My invention relatestoheaters of the storagetype and. itv especial reference to a means for mounting the tanks of such heaters to facilitate their removal and replacement.
Water heating unitsof present day, construction consist generally of'a'hot water storagefreservoir suitably insulated or containedrwithin and secured to an insulating jacket. , The objects of'the present, invention there- }pfovide a mount-for tanks of heating, units which the tanks may, after making the disconnections with gas and water lines, be readily removed without disturbing the insulation or causing any other annoyance. v Another objectof the invention is to provide a means in connection with the tank of a water heater whereby such tank may be readily locked in place within or to the insulation or insulating jacket and unlocked so that the removal of the tank may be possible. In a generalsense, the. invention consists in mounting or supporting a storage tank within a shell, preferably an insulatingijacket in such wise and inannerthat it may be quickly dissociated or removedlfromr the jacket or insulating envelope by anyone withoutthe exercise of any especial skill; it'also consists of the novel relation of the water tank to the jacket'byreas'on of which all the heat from the burners oriothersource is utilized in heating the water in the tank; and finally it consists of the specificj means by which the ready association of the tank with and its dissociation from itscomplementary enveloping insulation may be effected.
In its specific aspect, the invention as shown in the drawing comprisesawater heating unit of the type known in the art as storage heaters, in which the water' is heated by any heating mediumiand stored until used, and such water heating unit consists principally of a storage tank and insulating jacket 2, and such other instrumentalit-ies, not shown, as'are generally complements of Water heaters, and which foriningno part of this invention, need nodescription As seen in Fig; 1, theinsulating'jacket 2 consists preferably of'two spaced shells '2 and 2", conjoined in'suitable manner'to form a single unit and the insulating unit envelopes the tank 1 at the sides and top thereof being spaced therefrom a distance sulficient to provide for a free circulation of the heat around the tank. The top of the insulating jacket 2is provided with a'hollow not shown, to lead ofl'the gases of combustion from thespa'ce between the tank "andfjacket.
