The object: of my invention is to provide a top which can be spun with either end down. r
A further object of the invention is the provision of a top holder adapted to be held in one hand of the operator while he, or she pulls onthe string to initiate the spinning My invention relatess to tops and means of the top in the holder and from which it is discharged to the floor or other surface to spend its spinning force. 1
A further object of the invention resides in providing the holder with resilient means, 1 5which prevents the top from lifting itself from the holder while pulling on the draft cord and to aid in discharging the top from the holder after the draft cord has been unwound from the top.

In carrying out the aim of my invention, I employ a holder embodying a handle portionl and a bifurcated head 2 at one end pulled to gyrate or spin the top, the top will thereof to provide a slot 8having an open outer end between the forked ends at. The holder may be of any desired size and made from any material, such for instance, as wood, metal, fiber or its equivalent. The upper faces of the forked arms land a part of the head 2 have their upper faces beveled or inclined upwardly from the outer ends of p the arms 4, as at 5, to provide an inclined base to guide or lead a top towardthe open 0 end of the slot 3 after it has been gyrated by means of a pull, or draft string, aswill be apparent hereinafter.
A tongue member 6, preferably of resilient material, is disposed above the bifurcated end of the head 2 of the handle 1 in suitable spaced relation to the' upper inclined face 5 of the bifurcatedend of the holder and is provided with an upright section 7 which terminates at its lowerend in a base section 7 8 which is secured to the headportion 2 of the handle .1 by means of suitable fastening devices 9, such for instance as nails, screws, or their equivalent.
For use in connection with the holder as a above described, I provide a tophaving a cylindrical body 10 having aserrated concaved peripheral pull string receiving groove 11. The body is flat on its upper and 'lower faces and it is provided centrally thereof with the 90 .op'posed'pins 12and-13 which have their end faces curved or half rounded, as at 14 and 15, respectively.
In use the holder and top are assembled as shown in Fig. 1, and it will be noted the lower face of the top body lies jupon the inclined face of the bifurcated end of the holder with pin 13 seated in the slot 3 and with a pull cord 16 wound' around the body of the top with one end extended to be grasped by p the operator. N ow, the operator holds the handle 1 in one hand and grasps the string 16 with the other hand and just as soon as the string is assume a vertical position as shown in Fig.

The top may be spun on either end due to the two pins 12' and 13, thus the operator needs to pay no attention to which side of the top is up or down in mounting'the same upon the holder betweenthe bifurcated end of theholder andthe resilient tongue 6'thereof.
T e many advantages of the herein described invention will readily suggest themselves to those skilled in the art to which it appertains.
From the foregoing description, it isueviholder is held in the other hand of the operator.
8. In a device of the class described, a holder formed with a vertical slot open at one end, the upper face of said holder adjacent the slot being inclined, a resilient tongue disposed in spaced relation above a portion of the vertical slot, means for securing the tongue to the holder and a cylindrical top having opposed short pins, one of which pins is adapted to be seated in the vertical slot of the holder and the other of said pins adapted for end contact with the resilient tongue to prevent the top from lifting itself from the holder when initially gyrated by means of a pull string adapted to be wound around the top.

1, In a device ofsthe cated end which end is provided with an inclined upper face, a resilient member fixed at one endto the handle With-its opposite end portion disposed in spaced relation above the ifurcated end of the holder and a top formed with opposed short pins, one ofwhich is re ceivable in the bifurcation of the handle and the other in end contact with the resilient member, and the body of the top having a concaved peripheral groove adapted'to receive a draft cord. 1
