Description

July 15, 1930. s. sEGAL DISPENSING DEVICE Filed llaroh 20, 1928 IVENTOR. Samuel Segal,
BY Qmu/ AQMMM/ MAA a/vom/ A TTORNEYS.
Patented July 15, 193@ v n iran stares rAi'ieNr ori-fica SAMUEL SEGAL, OF NEW' YORK, N. Y., ASSGNOR, BY MESNE ASSIGNMENTS, T0 SEGAL LOCK & HARDWARE CO., INC., GF NEW" VYOJRILlI. Y., A CORPORATION OF NEW YORKv nisrnnsi'nc- DEVICE AppIication filed March 20, 1928. Serial No. 263,117.
This invention relates to a dispensing de* into the body and is submerged within the vice and aims to furnish an article of this fluid. nature which will have functionally and This structure may include conveniently structurally improved characteristics and a tube 8, the lower end of which mounts a which will be of particular value when used screw-threaded plug 9 having a centralr ori- 55 as a iilling appliance for pocket lighters, it lice guarded by a screen l0, and the inner being understood, however, that the device end Vofthis plug providing a valve-seat with may be employed in numerous different other Which a' valve body-as, for example, a ball associations. llfcooperates in order normally to prevent It is the object of the invention to provide the fluid from passing through the plug. 60 a device of this character, the parts of which The tube is formed with anA opening immewill be few inV number and individually diately above the space occupied by the valve rugged and simple in construction, these and this opening communicates with a pasparts being capable of ready assemblage, to sage l2, which extends upwardly to a point furnish a dispensing device capable of operadgacent the upperend of the tube. The receptacle body receives a eating. withthe interior of the receptacle, an quantity of volatile fluid as, for example, escape by evaporation or otherwise of the benzine, and a dispensing structure extends volatile fluid is prevented. l 00 In the embodiment illustrated, the upper end of the rod mounts a head 20 so that the rod may be freely depressed. Likewise, there is secured to the lower end of this head or knob a U-shaped member 21 having a preferably offset lower end, as indicated at 22. This member is capable of being swung freely from the position indicated in dotted lines to that in full lines, at which latter ity will prevent an accidental depression of the plunger, the oset end serving as a bearing surface.
Communicating with the passage 12 is a slpout 23 terminating in a nozzle portion 24.
his portion, by means of screw threads, (not shown) may be freely detached when necessary. The nozzle is formed with a comparatively fine orifice 25, and thus it will be understood that a penetrating stream will be ojected from the end of the nozzle when t ered is depressed.
The parts are so proportioned, refer-ably, that a single depression of the ro will serve eectually to fill a lighter of usual capacity and incident to the ine stream produced, the mass of fibrous material within the latter will le tioroughly charged at all points with the From the foregoing it will be appreciated that among others, the several objects specically afore-enumerated'are achieved.
`It will be appreciated, however, that numerous changes in construction and rear-V ran ement of the parts might be resorted to, wit out departing from the spirit of the invention as defined in the claims.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. Ar dispensing device including a receptxcle, a tube extending into said receptacle, a piston, an actuating rod extending into said tube and bein secured to said piston, a head secured to sai rod and beyond said tube and means extending between said head and tube and exteriorly of said receptacle to prevent relative movement of the parts.
2. A dispensing device including a recep tacle, a tube extending into said receptacle, a piston, an actuating rod extending into said tube and attached to said piston, a head secured to Said rod and beyond said tube and means movably attached to said head and dis- Posable in a position to extend towards the.
upper tube end to prevent movement of said tube and rod with respect to each other.
3. A dispensing device including a receptacle, a tube extending into said receptacle a piston-actuating rod extending into said tu e alhead secured to said rod and beyondsi tube and a Ushaped member havin its per ends swingingly secured to said ead and entendible to a `position towards the aber tube e'nd to prevent relative movement ofltube and piston.
4. A dispensing device including a recep tacle, a tube extendinn into said receptacle, a piston-actuating rod extending into said tube, a head secured to said rod and beyond said tube and a U-shaped member having its upper ends swingingly secured to said head and extendible to a position towards the upper tube endito prevent relative movement of said tube and piston, said U-shaped member havingr its base offset to present a bearing portion. In testimony whereof I affix my signature. SAMUEL SEGAL.
