IMPROVEMENT IN ADVERTlSlNG-CARDS.
Specification forming part of Letttrs Patent No. 176.418, dated April 25, 1876 application filed October 11, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RANSFORD F. BALDWIN, of Fort Edward, county of Washington and State of New York, have invented an Advertising-Gard, of which the following is a specification Theohject of myinventionis to so construct an advertising-card as to give the greatest facility for attaching, packages of merchandise to exhibit them to view in various positions.'
The card as is illustrated more fully in the front elevation, Fig. 1 and Fig. 6. It may be ot'any size desired, and may be made of paste board or wood, or a'thin plate of metal or of any other suitable material. It may be on a plane, as in Fig. 2, or it may be curved so as to form a part of a circle with the radius either in the front or in the rear, in which position it will stand vertical without other support than the base formed by its curvature.
The card is so constructed as to have notches or openings cut through it in the bottom or margin, as seen at p in Fig. 2 and p in Fig. 6.
The openin gin the card may be slightly wider at the bottom or entrance so as to admit ofthe package being pressed or crowded into the opening. The package being slightly compressed at the points of contact with the card, as seen at p in Fig. 6, is held in place by the friction at the points of contact with the card, without other means of holding it.
The card may be set on an inclination at any angle between the vertical and the horizontal, as seen at Fig. 4 or Fig. 5, and may be held in position by the prop J, Fig. 4.
The prop J is a piece of small wire, or a piece of wood of suffieient strength, or any other substance or suitable material, having a connection by a swing-joint with the card, as at Fig. 4.
The packages are seen attached to the card at 19, Figs. l'and 2, and at 10, Fig. 6. They are of any size and any material which it may be desirable to exhibit for sale or otherwise.

I claim As a new article of manufacture, the within-described card, having the slots or openin gs in its margin, into which the packages are inserted and held, provided with the prop J, as and for the purposes described.
