Description
UNITED STATES ENOCH S. MORGAN, OF MYSTIC BRIDGE, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN BOSOM-BOARDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 176,334, dated April 18, 1876; application filed March 2, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ENooH S. MORGAN, of Mystic Bridge, in the county of New London and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bosom- Boards; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompan yingdrawin g, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a board for ironing shirt-bosoms, as will be. hereinafter more fully set forth. I
In the annexed drawing, Figure 1 is a plan View of my improved bosom board. Fig. 2is a longitudinal section of the same through the line at w of Fig. I. Fig. 3 is a transverse section through the line 3 Fig. 1.
A represents the bosom-board, provided at each end, on the under side, with a cross-bar, B, extending from side to side of the board, and projecting beyond the end thereof. C is a rectangular frame, longer than the board A, and of such width as to fit around the edges of the board. At one end of the frame C is a bar, D, having slotted ends fitting over the inner edges of the side bars of the frame, and the bar D is pressed inward by means of rubber springs G G, attached to the end bar of the frame, and entering holes or recesses in the bar D.-
In ironing, the bosom is spread and stretched over the board A, and the frame 0 then placed over the same, the bar D being pressed outward to allow the frame to pass over the board. The frame rests upon the cross-bars B B, and the bosom is held taut by the expansion of the rubber springs G, which clamp the bosom between the frame and edges of the board.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desireto secure by Letters Patent, is-
The detachable frame 0 and sliding crossbar D, having recess near each end, said frame being provided with rubber springs G at one end, in combination with the board A and crossbars B, arranged as and for the purpose set forth.
