IMPROVEMENT IN SKIRT-PROTECTORS..
Speciiication forming part of Letters Patent No. l 76,020., dated April 11, 1876; application filed March 4, 1876.
`improved skirtprotector, which shall be so made as to serve also as e trimming for the skirt.
The invention will iirst be described in connection with the drawing, and then pointed out in the claim.
A is the inner part or ply of the protector, which is made of rubber, leather, oiled cloth, or other suite-ble material, upon the lower edge of `which is formed a hem, to receive the stiiiening-cord when used. B is the strip of embossed, stamped, embroidered, printed, or
other fancy cloth, which should be of a color, texture, and style to correspond with the skirt to which it is to be applied. The lower edge of the strip B is sewed to the strip A at the upper part of its hem. The upper edges of the strips A B are secured to each other by the binding U, by means of which it is secured to the skirt. By this construction a neat and serviceable skirt-protector is produced, which serves at the seine time as a trimming for the skirt.
Havin g thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A compound skirt-protector and trimming, formed of the ply-strip A and ornamental 'strip B, connected by binding C near the upper end, and the trimming sewed at its lower edge to the upper part of the hem of plystrip, :is and for the purpose specified. i
