IMPROVEMENT IN LOGGING-DOGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. [75,629, dated April 4', 1876; application filed March 20, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, OTIS H. SMITH, of Waterville, of the county of Kennebec and State of Maine, have invented a new and us ful Improvement in Logging-Dogs; and do in the following specification, and represented in the accompanying drawings, of which- Figure 1 is a top view, and Fig. 2 an edge elevation, of a pair of logging-dogs of my improved kind.
In carrying out my invention I curve in two directions, as shown, each of the hooked or spurred arms of the pair of dogs.
In the drawings the two dogs A A are represented as two levers crossing one another, and pivoted together at the crossing, the shorter arms of the dogs terminating in two eyes, a a, and the longer ones in two spurs, b b, all being arranged as shown. Each longer arm from end to end not only curves in one direction, as shown in Fig. 1, but also in another, as represented in Fig. 2, such buing in order that it may lie upon and conform to the surface of a log, and its spur obtain and maintain abetter hold thereof than would be the OTIS E.
