In the ordinary common safety razors the cutting part of the bladerests upon a safety guard or combbut according to the inclination given to the handle bythe person shaving himself, it may occur that only the comb touches the cheek and the blade stays more or less removed from the cheek. Further, as the hair cut away and the soap cannot pass between the blade and the comb, a more or less 1o important greasiness will occur according to the-beard and to the soap or cream used, thus hindering the blade to cut.
It will then be necessary to plunge the razor into' water and even sometimes 1t will be necessary to take the razor to lpieces for cleaning same. p
For avoiding these inconveniences it has been already proposed to keep the blade separated from the comb by inserting a fixed piece, but such` a separation, bein favourable for a strong and full beard, wlllrbe quite inconvenient for a soft beard. Consequently if there is an advantage to space the blade sufficiently, there will be a danger to cut the skin by spacing too` much. Several factors may require the spacing of the blade, first the fullness of the beard and the consistency of the soap or cream, then the part of the face to be shaved,..f. i. the mustache, cheek, chin. The spacing of the blade will also be wanted if one desires shavin more or less near to the skin. given to the handle of the razor during shaving requires regulating of the space. Moreover this variable space is limited by the protection assured by the comb. Thus it is necesslzry to be able to regulate this space. at
The safety razor, the object of the present invention is characterized by the fact that the blade, either with one edge or with two edges is fixed to a supporting member independent from the comb but gulded by the latter, and may be at'will removed or spaced from the 15 comb or approached to same by a screw, said screw being placed at the end of the handle, land controlling a screw threaded stem rigidly connected to the support of the blade, said screw provided with an index or mark of repair.

` The spacing of the blade and the comb relative to one another is obtained only by rotating of apart of the handle. On the drawing some embodiments of the object of the invention are shown by way of example.

-To the upper part ofthe handle 2 of the safety razor a double comb 3 is ri 'dly connected. The interior of the com 3 has a ,large groove 6 carrying a rectangularv sups port 7, its upper surface 8 being curved and provided ,with two tenons 9 and a screwthreaded central pin 10. The cutting blade 11 rests on the surface 8 and is kept in its position by tenonsv 9.- A head or to plate 12 curved at its lower part correspon ing to the curved surface 8 covers and lixes the blade 11 at the Sametime curving the blade against the surface 8. The plate 12 and blade 11 are kept in place by a screw 14 to be screwed on .i the pin 10. v
Beneath the support 7 a cylindrical shaft 15 (Fig. 2) is fixed, slidable within the interior of the handle 2. The lower part 16 of the stem 15 has a smaller diameter than the up- 100 per part, the free end of part 16'bein screw threaded'and carrying a nut member 1% forming the rolongation or lengthening piece of the han e. The part of this nut member 17 surrounding the screw threaded end of part 16 lies within the handle 2. A spring 18 surrounds the smaller part 16 of the shaft 15 and rests with one end a ainst the upper end of the shaft1 15 and with 1ts other end against the nut member 17. The latter has a circular oove'20, into which a pin 19 fixed to the hane 2 pro'ects.
After aving fixed the blade in the same manner as with ordinary safety razors thc blade 11 is removed from the teeth 4 of the comb by the support 7 on turnin the screw 17 counter-clockwise without m fying the curve of the blade.'
In Fig. 3 the support 21 for the blade 11 is guidedduring its movements by two tenons 22 fixed to the head or top piece 2 the upper part 29 of which covers the blade'11.. These tenons or pins 22 pass through corresponding a rtures in the comb 4. 'ie regulating of e bladeis the same as in Fifii 2.
In Fig. 4 the blade support 7 eeps a screw. 25 screwed onto the screw threaded end 24 of the stem 16, the upper end of the screw 25 beindgewidened according to a widened bore in su port 7, thus not projecting over thecurve surface of the support7. The end 24 has a larger diameter as the remaining part of the stem 16 and has been riveted or caulked with its utmost end 23 to the head or top iece 30.
The lade support 7 andthe screw 25 are" each lodged in a corresponding cavity of the comb and of the handle. This arrangement permits to` have the front end of the razor wholly disengaged,.thus not being hindered by projecting screws and the like during shaving. For a rapid regulation of the space between comb and cutting blade the lower part of the handle 2 adjacent to the screw 17 has been provided with a graduation 26, an index 27 permitting an accurate adjusting and bringing the blade back into its position wanted for use.
The blade support may be plain at its upper part for receiving fiat blades, resilient or not. .The comb could have only a single row of teeth as known for certain safety razors. The head of top plate may be fixed "to the blade support by means of cramps or the like instead of being screwed thereto, such a cramp being shown in Fig. 6.
As shown in Fig. 5 the blade may entirely enter into a cavity 5 on the u per part of the comb 3, lthe edge of the bla e being wholly protected byl the teeth 4, the latter'ones lying in the prolongation and same curved line as the blade 11.
