This invention relates to garments, more particularly to a' fly construction forming part of service suits of the open front, combination type, but it is to be understood that a fly construction, in accordance with this invention may be employed in connection with any type of garment for which it is found applicable, and the invention has for its object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set it forth an open front garment including a releasable means for closing the open front and a closeable fly independent and rearwardly of such releasable means. whereby when the latter is released to provide for the opening of the front of the garment it does not open or affect the fly in any manner.

Further objects of the invention are to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth a fly construction for garments which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, conveniently opened and closed when desired and readily installed with respect to the garment at a nominal expense.

With the foregoing and-other objects in view the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which fall within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.

In the drawings, wherein like reference denote corresponding parts throughout the several views Figure 1 is a front elevation of an'open .front, combination garment of the service type provided. with a fly construction in accordancewith this invention.

Figure 3 is a fragmentary view, in elevation looking towards the inner face of the front of the garment when closed and showing the fly construction in accordance with this invention. The garment includes a body portion 2, a waist band 3, sleeves 4, leg parts 5, 6, a crotch 7, a collar 8 and thigh portions 9. The front of the garment is open from the split neck band 10 to a point in close proximity to the crotch 7.

The material forming the arment is bent upon itself to provide a fol 11 which extends from the neck band 10 to a point in proximity to crotch 7. The fold 11 is secured against the inner face of the garment by a row of stitchin 12. The bend 13 of fold 11 provides one of the edges of the open front of the garment.

The material forming the garment is also bent upon itself to provide a fold 14 which extends from the neck band 10 to a point in proximity to crotch 7. The fold 14 is secured against the inner face of the garment by a row of stitching 16. The bend 15 of fold 14 provides the other edge of the open front of garment.- The fold 14 is of less width than fold 11 and the latter overlaps the front of the garment when the open front of the latter is closed. Thebend 13 provides the outer edge and the bend '15 the inner edge of the open front of the garment. The

11 and 14 reinforce the front of the garment at the parts thereof which carry the releasable closure means for the open front.

Secured to the fold 11 is the flexible carrier 17 of one of the rack elements 18 of the hookless fastener. The carrier 17 extends from neck band 10 to near the lower end of the fold.' Secured to the garment at a point adjacent bend 15 and extending from neck band to the lower end of bend 15'and over the fly construction, to be presently referred 90' to, is the flexible carrier 19 of the other rack element 20 of the fastener. The member 21 has its upper end and its lower end fixedly secured to the garment as at 26, 27 respectively. The section 23 of the member 21 opposes the garment and forms in connection therewith a fly opening 28. The carrier 19 opposes the outer face of section 23 of member 21, extends lengthwise thereof and is secured thereto. The outer wall of the fly opening 28 is provided by section 23 of member 21 and its inner wall by that portion of the material of the garment which opposes section 23. The member 21 projects inwardly a substantial distance from the bend 16.

The fly opening 28 is closed bya button 29 coacting with a button-hole 30, the latter being formed in section 23 and the former being secured to the inner wall of fly openin 28. vWhen button 29 coacts with button-hole 30 to close the fly opening 28, it is housed in the pocket 25. When the front of the garment is closed the fold 11 conceals the mem ber 21.

The inner and outer walls of the fly opening can be disconnected from each other, so that access can be had to or egress from the interior ofthe garment without shifting the open front closing means to open position, and further the front of the garment can be opened without disconnecting the walls of the fly to open the latter.

It is thought that the many advantages of a fly construction for garments, in accordance with this invention can be readily understood,

but although the preferred embodiment of the invention is as illustrated and described, yet it will be understood that changes in the details thereof can be had which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.

What I claim is 1. In a garment of the. open front type having a fly opening formed with an inner tially the crotch of the garment, releasable and an outer wall, a closure means for said open front, said walls opposing each other, said outer wall arranged inwardly of said closure means, and said walls having coacting means independent of said closure means for detachably connecting said walls together to close the fly opening.

2. In a combination garment of the open front type and with the opening at. the front thereof extending from the neck to substanthe curved edges thereof secured together y the stitchcoacting elements disposed substantially throughoutthe walls 0 said front openin for closing the latter, a fly member connecte independent of the openingand closing of the front opening of the garment.

3. In a combination garment of the open front type and with the opening at the front thereof extending from the neck to substantially the crotch of the garment, releasable, coacting' elements disposed substantially throughout the walls of said front opening for closing the latter, a fly member connected at two spaced points to one of the walls of said front opening to provide in connection with such wall a fly opening, one of said coacting elements extending across the outer face of and secured to said member, said member providing a pocket opening outwardly and formed with a button-hole, and

a button carried by said wall and coacting with the button-hole for closing the fly open- 8 ing independent of the opening and closing of the front opening of the garment, said button when said fly opening is closed being and an outer wall, a closure means for said 1 open front, said walls opposing each other, said outer wall arranged inwardly of said closure means, and said'walls having coacting means independent of said closure means for detachably connecting said walls to gether to closethe fly opening, said outer wall providing a pocket and that part of said coacting means carried by said inner wall being housed within said pocket when said walls are connected together to close the fly opening.

5. In a garment of the open front type having a fly opening formed with an inner and an outer wall, a closure means for said open front, said walls opposing each other, said outer wall arranged inwardly of said closure means, and said walls having coacting means independent of said closure means for detachably connecting said walls together to close the fly opening, said outer wall providing a pocket and that part of said coacting means carried by said inner wall being housed within said pocket when said wallsare connected together to close the fly opening, and said outer wall extending from said inner wall.

6. In a combination garment of the open front type and with the opening at the front thereof extending from the neck to substantially the crotch of the garment, releasable, coacting elements dis osed substantially throughout the walls said front openin for closing the latter, a fly member connecte at two spaced points to one of the walls of said front opening to provide in connection with such wall a fly opening, one of said coacting elements extending across the outer face of and secured to said member, said member providing a pocket opening outwardly and formed with a button-hole, and a button carried by said wall and coacting with the button-hole for closing the fly opening independent of the opening and closing of the front opening of the garment, said button when said fly opening is closed being housed within said pocket, and said fly member extended laterally from that wall to which it is connected at two oints.
