This invention provides a glove designed chiefly for trappers and persons handl ng wet cloths and engaged in work requiring reaching overhead, whereby to keep the 5 hands and arms dry and to shed water that may trickle down the arms when extended above the head and prevent such water from dropping upon the clothing as it is directed outwardly away from the person.

The invention furthermore provides a harness to retain a pair of gloves in position without causing any discomfort or inconveniences, or any tendency of the gloves to slip or become disarranged or interfere w1th the free movements of the arms and body.

While the drawing illustrates a preferred embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that in adapting the means to meet specific needs and requirements the design may be varied and such other changes in the minor details of construction may be resorted to within the scope of the invention as claimed, without departing from the spirit thereof.

For a full understanding of the invention and the merits thereof, reference is to be had to the following description and the drawing hereto attached, in which,-

Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and designated in the several views of the drawing by like reference characters.

Each of the gloves comprises a hand portion 1 and a sleeve extension 2 which is of a length to reach the shoulder, as indicated most clearly in Figure l of the drawings.

The glove will be constructed of any suitable material to render it impervious to moisture.

A water shedding shield 3 is provided adjacent the shoulder end of the sleeve 2 and is disposed to. ,deflect'any water trickling down the arm outwardly away from the person. The shield-3 is flexible. and may be constructed of the same material as theglove, and is adaptedto fold when the arms hang against the, sides of the body, but which springioutward when the arms are extended, so as to shed water in themanner indicated. The outline, and'arrangement of the shield 3 may vary according to the designand con- 7 struction of the glove.

A suitable harness is provided to retain I the gloves in place without causing any discomfort or interfere with the free movements of the arms and body. The harness includes similar or like front and back con necting straps 4 and shoulder straps 5, the latter connecting the straps 4 at each side of the head and passing over the shoulders. The several straps 4 and 5 are adjustable to admit of adapting the harness to the size of the person wearing the gloves. It is preferred to connect the several straps to one another and to the gloves by separable fastenings, thereby facilitating the placing of the gloves in position and their removal as required. 7

In the arrangement shown in Figure 4 of the drawings a strap 6 is applied to the shoulder end of the sleeve extension 2 and upper end of the arm, so as to retain the glove 1n place without necessitating recourse to the harness when one glove only is required for water or a marsh without wetting the hand or arm. The shield 3 prevents any water trickling down the arm from reaching the person as it is deflected outwardly. A person engaged in washing windows, walls, ceilings or other places requiring overhead reaching is protected since the hands and arms are kept dry and any water trickling down the arms is deflected outwardly and away from the person, thereby preventing wetting of the clothmg. i

Figure 3 shows the shield 3 differently aradmits of contracting the sleeve about the ranged, being the reverse of that illustrated in Figures 1 and 4.

Having thus described the invention, I claim:

1. A glove having asleeve extension of shoulder length, and a Water shedding shield adjacent the shoulder end of the sleeve disposed circumferentially of the sleeve across the inner portion thereof and normally extending towards the shoulder end of the sleeve in diverging relation thereto and adapted to fold against the body when the gloved arm hangs and to spring outward when the arm is extended.

2. A pair of gloves having sleeve extensions of shoulder length, straps secured to the shoulder ends of the sleeves at the front and rear thereof, said straps being adapted to eX tend across a persons chest and back and the straps of one glove being adjustably connected with corresponding straps of the other glove, and shoulder straps secured to the front and rear straps and adjustably connected to each other. g
