IMPROVENIENT IN TRUSSES.

Be it known Itha-t I EDWARD A. CAMPBELL, 0f Hastings-on-the-Hudson, in the county 0f .WestcheSter andState 0f New York, have ihveuted a new and Improved Truss for Hernia,

elastic band, D, serves to secure the truss t0 the body of the patieut. This band passes around the body 0f the patient adittle higher than the pnds, a-nd by its acti'on 'the upper ends 0f the levers O are pressed inward, thereby holding the pads firmlv g1p .ag2ltinst the hernia. 'Lhe levers, being separate and 'iudependent from euch, ad just themselves readily t0 the desired spot, und eaeh lever is free to follow the motious of the body iudependent of the other lever, so that the pads am not liable to work loose or t0 cause irritation.
lt will be noticed that by my arrangement the use 0f strong s prings is avoided, and no tight strap is r'equired, amlat the same time the pads are firmly retained in position, and all parts 0f the truss can readily adapt themselves t0 the motiou of the body without irritution.

In a truss, the com'bination 0f tw0 indepemb ent pads, each lnwing a lever formed ot' the prolougation of the back otf the pad, and projeeting upward, with a strap ib1'3djllStillg tl1e distance between the pads, and with an elastic body-baml secured to the pads, as showu, all constructed und operating substanti ally as descnbed.
