This invention relates to gloves of various styles and classes and particularly to the provision of a pocket constituting part of the glove structure and inwhich small articles, change and the like may be stored for of theinvention is to immediate and accessible useand the object means of controlling a ission to the pocket in the glove structure, said means also serving to secure the love upon the hand and wrist of a wearer, t e glove being so designed that the securmg means employed will operate to draw the glove firmly about the hand and wrist to produce a neat and snug fit, and yet permitting the quick insertion and removal of the hand with reference to the glove; a furseparate parts 0 my lmprovement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a glove made according to my invention and indicating the method of its use.

In the accompanying drawing, I have shown one form of glove and one method of carrying my inventlon into efiect, the glove being fashioned from two glove parts, namely a' main part 10 and a t umb part 11, the part 10 being folded on the edge. 12 to bring the back of the glove upon the front or palm ortion of the glove, the front and back parts Being stitched together at the opposlte side edge as seen at 13, one end of the main part 10 of the glove being fashioned to form the four fingers 14, and said part being cut out to form a thumb aperture 15 to which the rovi e an improved thumb part 11 is secured. The front or palm portion of the glove part 10 is split centrally and longitudinally from the base of the four fingers 14 out through the wrist portion 16 of the glove.

The thumb part 11 includes an integral palm ortion 17 which is of the general contour ormed by the line of stitchings 13, 18, 18, 19 and 20 and the stitchings for attaching the thumb part 11 to the art 10 between the stitchings 18 and 19. he stitching 18 is arranged adjacent the base of the fingers 14, the stitching 18 extendin from the stitching 18 to the thumb hole 15, t e stitching 19 extend-- ing from the thumbhole 15 to one free side 21 of the split palm portion of the part 10,whereas the stitching 20 extends from the other free side 22 to the side seam or stitching 13 the latter stitchings 19 and 20 serving to close the lower or wrist end of the pocket formed between the palm ortions, it being apparent that suificient ad ed material to the palm portion 17 is employed to allow the sides of the glove to be extended substantially as seen in Fig. 1 of the drawing in the operation of opening the pocket. This added material is gathered when the pocket is in closed position as seen in Fig. 2. This structure leaves between the adjacent ends of the stitchings 19 and 20 a free edge portion 17 on the palm portion 17 of the thumb and this edge portion preferably terminates near the base of the thumb, thus forming a pocket between the palm portion 17 and the palm portion of the part 10 when the separate sides 21 and 22 are brought together to close said pocket.

To secure the se arate or free sides 21 and 22 together, I pre erably em loy a fastening device of the type involving exible stringers 23 and 24, attached to the under surfaces of the free edges 21 and 22 inwardly of said edges so that when the stringers are con led together, said edges will be brought into 9. ntting relation, said stringers having interengaging coupling elements 23 and 24" adapted to interlock one with the other when brought together by means of a slider 25 movable longitudinally of the stringers as in other devices of this class. The slider 25 is preferably pro- 2 vided with an outwardly projecting button head or other finger piece 26 by means of which the same may be operated.

In the operation of moving the slider from the position shown in Fig. 1 to the position shown in Fig. 2, it is pre erred that the material of the glove structure be drawn tightly or snugl about the hand to produce a neat and finished appearance. In the said operation of the slider, the pocket within the alm ortions of the glove structure will be c osed in that the slider is arranged at a point in line with 'or below the free edge 17 of said pocket.

It is preferred that frictional devices 27 of any kind or class be arranged in the path of the slider at the point specified to form a tentative stop or to provide sufiicient resistance to check the movement of the slider at the base of the pocket in either sliding movement thereof so that the glove may, if desired, be applied to or removed from the hand by leaving the wrist portion open and without opening the pocket.

However, should it be desirable to quickly apply the glove to the hand, the slider may be moved into the position shown in Fig. 1 to permit this operation. It will, of course, be understood that in securing the wrist portion 16 of the glove firmly about the wrist of the wearer, the slider is moved to the end of said wrist ortion.

Another eature of the invention resides in the fact that by arranging the pocket between the palm ortions of the separate glove parts and providing a closure means of the type disclosed, a large opening is afforded to the pocket, facilitating the convenient removal of articles from the pocket at all times. In fact, two or three fingers of the hand may be inserted into the pocket for this urpose, and in drawing the free sides 21 an 22 to ether at the inner or wrist end of the pocket, t e entire pocket is closed, reventing the escapement of any article t erefrom', such for example as a small coin.

A pocket of theclass specified, arranged on or built into a glove structure will provide many practical uses, and will in fact, render the pocket invisible as such from external appearance of the glove structure. Thus, the pocket may be used as a secret pocket. It will also be understood that my invention is not necessaril limited to the specific location of the pocket erein shown and described, nor am I limited to the particular location or arrangement of the closure means employed, as various changes in and modifications of the structure herein disclosed may be madewithin the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages.-

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let'- ters Patent, is

1. A glove of the class described, the palm and wrist portion of which is severed centrally and longitudinally from the base of the finger portion of the glove outwardly through the wrist portion thereof to form independent side portions, closure means for drawing said side portions to ether to secure the glove firmly upon the hen and wrist of the wearer, and a pocket formed in the palm portion of the glove structure, access to which is controlled by said closure means.

2. A glove of the class described, the palm and wrist portion of which is severed centrally and longitudinally from the base of the finger portion of the glove outwardly through the wrist portion thereof to form independent side portions, closure means for drawing said side portions together to secure the glove firmly upon the hand and Wrist of the wearer, said closure means involving flexible stringers attached to said side portions and having interengaging coupling elements and a slider for coupling and uncoupling said elements, and frictional means for engaging the slider at a predetermined point intermediate the ends of said stringers.

A glove of the class described fashioned from a main part and a thumb part, said thumb part including a palm portion arranged upon and secured to the palm portion of the first named part to form between the same a pocket opening outwardly throu h said first named part, a fastening device or controlling the pocket opening comprising flexible stringers attached to opposite Walls of said opening, and a slider movable longitudinally of the stringers in controlling the pocket opening.

A glove of the class described fashioned from a main part and a thumb part, said thumb part including a palm portion arranged upon and secured to the palm portion of the first named part to form between the same a pocket opening outwardly through said first named part, a fastening device for controlling the pocket opening comprisin flexible stringers attached to opposite wa ls of said opening, a slider movable longitudinally of the stringers in controlling the pocket opening, and said stringers extending onto the wrist portion of the glove to secure said wrist portion upon the wrist of the wearer.

A glove of the class described fashioned from a main part and a thumb part, said thumb part including a palm portion arranged upon and secured to the palm portion of the first named part to form between the same a pocket opening outwardly throu h said first named part, a fastening device or controlling the pocket. 0 ening comprising flexible strin ers attache to opposite walls of said 0 enmg, a slider movable longitudinally of t e stringers in controlling the pocket opening, said stringers extending onto the wrist portion of the glove to secure said wrist portion upon the wrist of the wearer, and means on said stringers inwardly of sand I wrist portion for checking the movement of said sllder to maintain the same in the posltion assumed when the pocket is closed.

6. In articles of the class described having a pocket formed therein, closure and securing means for said pocket comprising flexible stringers attached to oppositely disposed walls of the pocket and extending beyond the boundaries of said pocket, a slider movable longitudinally of the stringers for coupling and uncoupling the same to close and open said pocket, and means intermediate the ends of thestringers and adjacent one end of the pocket for frictionally engaging V said slider to check the movement thereof.

7. The combination with a glove, of a g pocket for supporting small articles and means for controlling the admission to said pocket comprising a fastening device involving stringers attached to opposite walls of the pocket opening, a slidermovable longi- 5 tudinally of the stringers in opening and closing said pocket, and the opposite walls of said pocket forming end walls of the glove structure whereby in drawing said stringers together by said slider, the glove isdrawn 3o firmly about the hand of the wearer.

8. The combination with a glove, of a pocket for supporting small articles and means for controllin the admission to said pocket comprising a astening device involv- 3:; ing stringers attached to opposite walls of the pocket opening, a slider movable longitudinally of the stringers in opening and closing said pocket, the opposite walls of said pocket forming end walls of the glove 0 structure whereby in drawing said stringers together by said slider, the glove is drawn firmly about the hand of the wearer, and the stringers of said fastening device extending onto the wrist portion of the glove whereby said wrist portion may be drawn firmly about the wrist of the wearer.
