This'invention relates to devices adapted 'for-mounting on lines, strands, cablesY orl the f y like for' the lpurpose lof cleaning, ywiping or'lv otherwisetreating such strand-likev bodies, l f5-and particularlyv to devices'ofthisfclassor 1 use in connection with clothes-linesandthe object ofthe `invention-isftolprovide a'devicek of the class de scribed involving separate relatively movable vparts within' and-between which a line,` strand, l"cable/or"` the *like is.-
mounted and adapted to be'pa'ssed, said de-v vice beingysupported solely by the strand-fv with means for retaining said parts in coupled- 1 relation, said means involving a spring or a catch or a coupling device asinay be de-x sired; a further, object being to providebrush and wiper elements Vor similar .elements-,1 ypreferably detachably mounted in the sepathe strand or'cleaning the same or other purposes; and withthesey and other vobjects in view, the invention consists in` a deviceV of the class and" for the purposel specified 30 which is simple in constructioineiicientin/ use, andwhich Ais constructed as hereinafter Vl described` and claimed. y
The invention is fully disclosed in the following speciiication, of which the accompany- 35 ing drawingA forms a part, in which the separovernent are designated krate parts lof my imp ch of the by suitable reference vcharacters inea views, and in which :y

My present invention 'forms an improvement over the 'structure shown in. a companion application filed by me of equal date herewith, wherein -a` substantially similar type of a device constitutes part of a pulley structure. But, in the present case, the device is totally independent of the pulley structure and may be mounted upon a line,
strand or strand-like body of'any kind or class as hereinbefore stated and may further have other distinct uses than the use which is herein illustrated purelyv from a standi point of disclosing one use or method of carrying the invention into effect, in which use, it constitutes aV cleaning device for supported in engagement with the strand passed therethrough or alongv which the de-l clothes-lines.
The device may however, be used for cleaning other. strand-like bodies or as a treatment or applicating device involving bodies vice is moved. My invention is not necessarily limited to the specific structure herein disclosed, and various changes therein and A modiiications thereof. may be made rwithin the scope of the appended claims, without de'- parting from the spiritotmy invention or sacrificing its advantages.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A device of the class described comprising an elongated and substantially boxshaped casing consisting of substantially similar and inovably coupled parts,- tensional means' for normally supporting said parts in yadjacent relation, cleaning membersY involving mounting bodies of rigid material arranged in the chambers of said parts and retained against displacement by theV side and end walls of said parts and detachably coupled with respect thereto, the cleaner elements `of said Vmembers being arranged adjacent and adapted to engage a strand-like 'body positioned between said elements under the tension of said tensional `means, said cleaning lmembers involving independent vbodies in eachy part. of the device and the cleaning elements of one body being offbrushlike material and the other of a Wiper material.
2. A device of the class described compris- Y ing an elongated and substantially boX- shaped casing consisting of substantially similar and movably coupled parts, tensional means for normally supporting said parts inadjacent relation, cleaning members involving mounting bodies-of rigid material arranged in the chambers of said parts and retained against displacement by the side and end walls of said parts and detachably coupledwithf'respect thereto, .the cleaner elements of said members being arranged adj a.-
