IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP-FUNNELS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 174,716, dated March 14, 1876 application filed February 28, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM BoDEY, of Gulion, Crawford county, Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Lamp-Funnel, of which the following is a specification:
Figure 1 represents a side elevation of my improved lamp-funnel, shown in position to fill a lamp, and Fig. .9 is a vertical central section of the same.
Similar letters-of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The invention relates to an improved device for filling coal-oil and other lamps with great facility and without spilling of oil and it consists of a cone-shaped funnel,-with recess for the spout of the oil-can.
In the drawing A represents a conical tube or funnel, that is inserted into the collar of the lamp to be filled, holding the wick and burner stationary while the oil is being poured in.
The funnel A is provided with a strengthening top band or rim, a, and a slot or opening, 1), at the side, into which the spout of the oil-can is placed, to admit the easy pouring out of the oil without danger of slipping aside and spilling the oil.
