This invention relates to vanity appurtenances, and in particular to a novel facial ice-packer. A prevalent and popular method of closing the pores of the skin and of beautifying and strengthening the facial tissues is to apply an ice-pack to the face, gently rubbing the same against the skin. This method has long since been carried out by enclosing the ice in a towel or the like and rubbing the face. This, however, is quite difficult to perform and quite unpleasant, as the sharp cor- 11ers of the ice project through the towel and cause discomfort to the face, while at the same time, the melting of the ice causes water to trickle down the sides of the face and endanger the clothing of the user.

My invention has been perfected to remedy this discomfort and contemplates a novel construction and arrangement of parts whereby ice may be conveniently held in a pack within a compact container shaped to fit the face, means being provided for filling the container and for draining the same.

With these and many other objects in view, which will more readily appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of p arts, which will hereinafter be more fully described, illustrated, and claimed.

The essential features of the invention involved in the carrying out of the objects in dicated are susceptible to modification; but a preferred embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Fig. 2 is a side view of the device, a part being broken away to better reveal the nature of the invention.

Fig. 3 is a front view of the device, parts being broken away to show the assembled elements thereof.

The device involves in its general organization, a substantially elliptical container which is curved adjacent one end. This con tainer is designated at and is. with the exception of its curvature, in the form of a flat receptacle having rounded corners 11, front and

rear surfaces

12 and 13, and a substantially elliptical side surface 14. The lower end of the container is curved outwardly, as shown in Figure 2.

While this container may be constructed in any suitable manner and of any suitable material, yet it is preferable to form the same of light sheet metal such as aluminum on account of its cheapness, strength, durability, attractiveness and salable features, and its high coeflicient of heat transmission. A filling plug is provided in the top of the side wall of the container and is threaded as at 20. An ice-pick extends through this filling plug with its outer end provided with a suitable handle or the like 41.

Perforations 22, formed in the top surface of thecontainer, permit moisture to pass through these walls when the top area of the device is applied to the face.

The above parts adequately define my invention, and it is thought that the use of the device as portrayed in Figure 1, is selfevident. It is to be noted that when the container is filled with ice as shown in Figure 2, it is not necessary to moisten the face, as vapor of condensation would be deposited on the surface of the container as long as there is a sufficient difference in temperature between the container and atmosphere to provide a dew point between the same; and as the surface 12 (which is the applying surface) is applied to the face, this vapor of condensation will be sufficient to moisten the face. However, it is evident that if additional moisture is required, this will be supplied through the perforations in the container.

In addition, liquid which collects in the bottom of the container may be poured through these apertures without removing the filling From the foregoing, it is thought that the construction, use and many advantages of the herein-described facial ice-packer will be adequately understood. It Will be further understood that certain material alterations in the construction may be effected Without having a deleterious effect upon the efficiency of my device. The minor details in the construction will at all times of course, be performed Within the scope and spirit of the subjoined claims.

What I claim by this invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. A facial ice-packer comprising a container, a filling plug for the same, an ice-pick carried by said filling plug, and a handle on said filling plug.

2. A facial ice-packer comprising a container, a filling plug for the same, and an icepick carried by said filling plug.

3. A facial ice-packer comprising in combination a rigid container of small Width, one end of said container having a filling plug therein there being apertures through said container, and an ice-pick extending through said filling plug.

4. A facial ice packer comprising in combination a rigid container and a filling plug therefor, one side of said container being concave to conform to the tissues of the face and having a plurality of apertures therein to permit seepage of liquid therethrough.

5. A facial ice packer comprising in combination a rigid container, a filling plug therefor, one side of said container being concave to conform to the tissues of the face and having a plurality of apertures therein to permit seepage of liquid therethrough, and an ice pick carried by said filling plug.
