Description

Patented Jan. 14, 1930 PATENT OFFICE OLDRICH TUREK, 9F PLZEN, GZECHOSLOVAKIA BLASTING CARTRIDGE, PERCUSSION GAP, DETONATOB, DETONATING'FUSE, AND THE LIKE No Drawing. Application filed February 25, 1929, Serial No. 342,672,
2, 4, G-trinitro 1, 3, -triazidobenzene can be suitably employed as priming in detonating caps, if the compression pressure does not exceeds 300 kg. cm otherwise there is a rapid 5 decrease in shattering power and priming force.
The same powerful action which is obtained with the type of detonating caps in which highly compressed 2. 4, fi-trinitro 1, 3, 5-tri- 10 azidobenzene is combined with highly compressed lead azide, is also obtained with detonating caps, in which use is'made, as secondary filling, of highly compressed 2, 4, 6-trinitro 1, 3, 5-triazidobenzene (compression pressure of 300 kg. cm u to 2000 kg. cm and more) and as priming lling a small length of slightly compressed 2, 4, fi-trinitro 1, 3., 5-
triazidobenzene. 0.05 grms. to 0.1 grms. of
this substance, which has been compressed under a pressure of 300 kg. cm is suitable for the purpose.
As secondary filling in place of highly compressed 2, 4, S-trinitro 1, 3, 5-triazidobenzene, use can also be made of trinitrotoluene, tetril or other shattering substance; the shattering power of the detonating caps is naturally correspondingly less. 0.5 grms. 2, 4, 6-trinitro 1, 3, 5-triazidobenzene is sufiicient for complete priming.
What I claim is 1. A method of producing blasting cartridges and the like, consisting in filling the detonating cap with compressed 2, 4, 6-trinitro 1, 3, 5-tri'azidobenzene, serving as secondary filling, and ramming thereupon with a pressure not exceeding 300 kg. cm a priming consisting of 0.05 to 0.2 guns of 2, 4, fi-trinitro 1, 3, 5-triazidobenzene, as set forth.
2. A method of producing blasting cartridges and the like, consisting in filling the detonating cap with compressed 2, 4, 6-trinitro 1, 3, 5-triazidobenzene, serving as secondary filling, ramming thereupon with a pressure not exceeding 300 kg. cm a priming consisting of 0.05 to 0.02 grms. of 2, 4, 6-trinitro 1, 3, 5-triazidobenzene, and pressing thereon a protective cap with aperture, as set forth.
3. A method of producing blasting cartridges, detonators and the like, consisting in and in Czechoslovakia March 28, 1928.
filling a detonatin capwith compressed trinitrotoluene, tetry or other shattering substance (high explosive) serving as secondary filling, ramming thereupon w1th a pressure not exceeding 300 kg. cm a priming consistmg of 0.05 to 0.2 grms. of 2, 4, G-trinitro 1, 3, 5-triazidobenzene and pressing thereon a protective cap with an aperture, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
OLDRIOH TUREK.
