AIMPROVEMENT IN PLOW-SHOULDERS.
Specification formin g part of Letters Patent No. 174,1.85, dated February 29, 1876; application filed November6p1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JOSEPH G. BLOUNT and ELIAS HAIMAN, of Columbus, in the county of Muscogee and State of Georgia, have in- Vented a new and useful Improvement in Adjustable Plow-Shoulders, of which the following is a specification:

The object of this invention is to furnish a shoulder for the upper end of the plow-plate to rest against, which may be adjusted as a longer or shorter plow-plate is used, or as the plow-plate Wears away.
The invention consists in the combination of an adjustable shoulder with a plow-stand-V of the standard B, as shown in Fig. 2. The plate or shoulder D is secured to the standard B by a bolt, E, which passes through the slot of the standard B, and has a nut, e', screwed upon itsend. The head ofthe bolt E is countersunk into the plate D, so as to leave the face ot' the said plate smooth.
By this construction, by loosening the nut e', the plate D may be so adjusted that its lower edge may bear squarely against the upper edge ot' the plow-plate, and serve as a shoulder for supporting the said plow-plate firmly in place. v
The form of theA adjustable shoulder D may be varied, as the form of the plow-standard and of the plow-plate may require, Without departing from our invention.
We are aware that an adjustable shoulder is not, broadly, new; but A What we claim is- The combination of slotted standard B B, the plate D, having lianges d d', the bolt E, having its head countersunk in plate D, and the nut e with a plow-plate, C, secured by its Own bolt, as and for the purpose specified.
