This invention relates to an arm and bottle holder for use .byundertakers during embalming processes the present invention consisting of various improvements in that for which` application No. 211,475` was tiled on August 8, 1927, and which matured into latent 1,671,862, issued .May 29, 192.8, and it is anobject of the inventionto provide a simpleand inexpensive device of this character, which possesses the necessary rigidity for holding the arms of a body in elevated position for drainage purposes and in a natural position during the injection of the embalming fluid. It is a further objectof the invention to provide convenient adjustable and detachable means for..s.upporting thebottleiof embalming fluid as Well as toV provide a detachable drainage or drip pan, all as Will be hereinafter more particularly described and claimed.

In the drawings reference character indicates a base formed of a substantially flat hollow body or base having arms 11 and 12 slidably mounted in its ends, each arm comprising a horizontal portion and a vertical portion disposed at right angles thereto. The horizontal portions ofthe arms are pro videdavith slots 13 and 141 through which extend bolts or screvvsi15 and. 16 carried by the base 10, said slots and bolts` serving toprevent the removal of the adjustable arms from the base. .Bolts or screws are preferable to fas tening elements which are not removable since they permit the device tojbe taken apart for cleaning. and .other purposes.

It will be understood of course from the foregoing that the cross member may be secured to the arms at either end ofthe base but ordinarily it Will be practical and desirable to secure it at the end shown in order to better support the device.

The upright portions of the arms 11 and 12 are provided with studs 21 and bolts 22 disposed in longitudinally spaced relation and Which extend through slots 23 in vertically adjustable brackets 24 having curved members 25 pivoted at their upper ends. The brackets 24 and curved members 25 form adjustable arm supporting members. The bolts 22 are provided with Wing nuts 22 by means of Which the brackets may be secured in the desired adjusted position. The members 25 are adapted When in use to be disposed in the position shown but When packed for carrying are adapted to be folded inwardly so that they t snugly against the opposite sides of the brackets.

A drip or drainage pan 26 is provided such drip pan having a socket 27 on its under surface adapted tofit into the short end of the cross member 17 for holding the pan in operative position. Y

The device above described is suitable for supporting the arms of a corpse upon a cooling board or other device upon `which the same restseither during the embalming of the same or While the corpse is on display. The device is adjustable to the desired Width or height obviating the necessity of tying the hands or arms of the body in position either during the embalming operation or after the same is performed and by its useV blood may be thoroughly drained from the veins and arteries anddiscolorations cleared from the 9 linger tips and other parts of the body.

It will be obvious to those skilled in the art that various changes may be made in the device withoutdeparting from the spirit of the invention, and therefore, the invention is not limited to what is shown 'in the drawings and described yin the specification, but only as set forth in the appended claims.

Having thus fully described the said invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is:

l. An arm ,and bottle holder comprising a base, a detachable cross member `connected to saidbase for preventing overturning of the base, means for holding the same in fixed transverse position relative to the base, adjustable arm supporting members carried by said base, and a bottle supporting bracket mountedon said base, substantially as set forth.

2. An arm and bottle holder comprising base, brackets slidable'toward 'and from each other carried by the base, a member for detachable connection at either end ofthe base for preventing overturning of the same, and adjustable `armA supportingmembers carried by said brackets, substantially as set forth.

3. An arm and bottle holder comprising a base, brackets slidable toward and from each other carried by the base, aV member for ded tachable connection at either end of the base for preventing overturning of Ythe same, ad-

The combination of a base, arm supporting members 4slidable toward and from each other mounted on the base, a cross member for detachable connection; with either of said arm supporting members for preventing overturning of the base, anda bottle sup-4 port pivoted on said base and adjustable at different angles relative to the base for supporting a bottle in vertical position, said bottle supporting member comprising a yoke having arms for engaging the neck of a bottle,'said yoke having ayconstricted portion between the arms adapted to constrict the tube for stopping the flow therethrough, substantially as set forth.

6. An arm and' bottle holder comprising a base, an arm supporting member at each end of the base, a socketl adjustably i'nountedl on one of the arm supporting'members,'a pin in said socket, a bottle 'supporting nbracket disposed insaid socket and having'a bifurcation in its end for receiving said pin whereby rotation of the bracket in the socket is prevented, substantially as set forth. i I

'7. An arm and bottle holder 'comprising a` base, an arm supporting member at each end of the base, a 'socket adjustably mounted on one of the arm supporting members, a pin in said socket, a bottle supporting bracketl disposed in said socket and having a bifurcation in its end for receiving said pin whereby rotation of the bracket in the socket is lprevented, said bracket comprising a plurality of telescopic sections including rigid pipe sections, substantially as set forth.

8. An arm and bottle holder comprising base', bracketscarried by the'brace and adjustable horizontally toward and from each other, vertically adjustable-arm supporting members carried by said brackets, a. detachable cross member yconnected to onev of the brackets and adjustable therewith toward and fromfthe other bracket, andrmean's for securing said cross member iny fixed relation, substantially as' set'forth. An arm and bottle holder comprising a base,"brackets carried by the brace and adjustable horizontally toward and from each other, vertically adjustablearm supporting members lcarried by said' brackets', a detachable cross memberconnected to one of the brackets and adjustabletherewith toward and from the other bracket, means for securingV said cross member in iiXed relation and means for securing a drainage pan in anop orative position adjacent one end of the base,

substantially as set forth.

l; An arm and bottle holder comprising a base, brackets 'carried by the brace and adjustable horizontally toward and from each other, vertically adjustable arm supporting members carried by said brackets, a detach able cross member connected to one of the brackets and adjustable therewith toward and lo from the other bracket, means for securing said cross member in fixed relation, and an upright bottle supporting member swingable transversely of said base, substantially as set forth.
