My invention belongs to that general class of devices known as radiator cabinets, casings or enclosures and relates more particularly to a cabinet of the kind described which may be made up in a desired length and height an at installation be readily adjustable to fit the radiator and allow for any slight warping or irregularity in the radiator. lThe invention has among its objects '10 the production of a device of the kind described that is simple, inexpensive, attractive, efficient, durable, adjustable, of light weight and satisfactory Wherever found applicable. It has among its further objects the production of an improved device of the kind described provided with a humidifying pan and with a top or cover that may be lifted to permit inspection or refilling ofthe humidifying pan. In its preferred form, it is 2o constructed so that it may be partially knocked down for convenience in storageor shipping. Y. l

Many other objects and advantages of the construction herein shown and described will be obvious to those skilled in the art from the disclosure herein given.y

To this end my invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown Vand described,

and more particularly pointed out in the claims.

Referring to the drawings in which only one embodiment of the invention is shown, the cabinet or enclosure consists of a top or cover 1, a back or rear portion 2, a front portion 3 and end members 4 and 5. The 50 end members are preferably each in the form lof an angle, the portion 4 being adapted *I to rest upon the top of the radiator and forni a support for the humidifying pan andthe portion 5 for` connection with the front and rear portions as will be described hereinafter. The rear portion 2 shown is flanged at the ends as indicated at 7, the outer edges of the flanges being turned inwardly as shown at 8 to provideza finish. Secured to the top portion 2 and the flanges 7 'are angular corner pieces 9-10. In the drawings, I have illustrated the portion 10 adjustably connected to the part 5, either one or both corner n pieces or the corner 10 and the part 5 being slotted as indicated at 11 and 12, respectively, bolts 14 securing the parts together. I have also shown brackets 15-16 secured to the back. These brackets are so arranged that the parts 4 may rest thereon. When it is not desired that the back be adjustably secured to the end members 5, the adjustable connection between the corner portionslO and the parts 5 may be omitted and the parts. be spot welded or otherwise secured by corner parts 10 to the brackets 16. As shown, the top edge of the back plate 2 is preferably flanged over 'as indicated at 17A with the free edge folded inwardly thereby stiffening 'the structure. The parts 5 are preferably cut away as indicated at 18 so as not to interfere 80 with the turned over portion 17.

Vhile the front section or portion 3 be of any desired length it is preferably made somewhat smaller than the rear section 2. The lower edge 19 is preferably turned in-V wardly to stiften the same and provide a finish and the top edge preferably iiang'ed over as indicated at 20 with the free edge of the flange foldedy inwardly as shown at 21. Corner members 23-24 similar to those at the rear are provided at the front and these may be connected to the end members 5 by slot and bolt connections similar to those described for the back. I prefer torprovide the front section'with an opening 25 adjacent the top edge and a somewhat larger opening 26 below, the opening 26 being covered by a perforated plate or sheet 28 this being ordinarily perforated or formed to imitate or represent cane. The plate 28 is shown 10o with its top and bottom edges folded over so as to engage the turned over portions 27 at the bottom and top of opening 26. The front side 24 of the corner p iece is preferably turned in at the opening to also provide a finish.

The cover l `is formed withy a flanged edge 29 at the back andy flangedV edges 30 at the front and ends, the cover being proportioned so that it preferably projectsislightly beyond the front face of the front 3 as most clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 4. The coverishinged to the back 9 by the hinges 3l. The hinge parts may .be secured to. the cover and to the back by rivets 32 and bolts 33 or in an equivalent manner. When secured to one part by bolts, the samemaybe removed when packin 4'or shipping and yet be readily assembledi'at the time of installation.

As s`hown-,th'ere is provided a pan 34 for containing Water, orthe like, the same constituting a humidifier. This pan is of ay size to-eXtend from Vend to end of the device but is Apreferably somewhat narrower than the cabinet; `The same is supported by the flange resembleoa-k, mahogany, walnut or in other words,y so as to harmonize with the woodwork or Yfurnishings ofthe room.

YI haveY found that there often maybe a slight 'variation in the width. of the radiator coils for some reasonror other, or the radiator unit has warped? or bowed so that the sections are out' of alignment to an appreciable ex# tent'.Y It isdesired that the cabinet mounted; on the same lit tightly andin a way grip or clamp the radiator rather than merely set thereon.k VVlth my improved construction, thel cabinetfmay 'be mounted upon the radiator and? may then be adjusted so that it rips or closely fits the same and even ad- Justed so that it' is practically clamped on the radiator. Where no adjustment vis provided' and' the radiator cabinet 'fits tightly ifthe same is forced into place, it frequently distorts theycabinet and causes a 'bend or buckling at the front. Obviously, in a nicely inished cabinet, a 'buckling would vimmediately ruin "the same so far as its orna- 'mentalappeara-nce was concerned. By-malring my cabinet adjustable, this difiiculty is entirely avoided and at the same time, I am enabled to fit the same very closely or clamp it to the radiator so that it is not easily displaced. The device shown is par,-

ticularly ornamental and provides avery efficiently concealed humidifier. The use of radiator cabinets is well knownconseq'liently I diofnot' feel it necessary'topoint out, all the uses offsuch aY cabinet, the three out-r standing features being improved appearance of the radiator, the deiiecting of the heated air currents outwardly and the resulting preservation of the walls and ceilings of the room.

Having thus described my invention, it is obvious that various immaterial modilications maybe made inthe same without departing from the spirit of my invention', hence I do not w-ish to be understood as limiting myself .tothe-.exact form., construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described., or usesmentioned.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent isf:

l. In a radiator cover, the combination of a frame comprising front, rear and sid-'e portions, said side: portions comprising angle members for supporting fa pan thereon, corner vpieces securedI tovsaidf-i'ont and rea-r por'- tions and adaptedfto be adfj ustably-secured` to said 'angle members, and affcover disposed over saidl frame.

2. tion and disposed over said frame in a manner to conceal said corner pieces, angle members and securing means.

6. In a radiator cover, the combination of a frame having a front portion and a rear portion adjustable toward and from each other, angular corner pieces having slots formed therein and secured to said front and rear portions adjacent the ends thereof, angle members having slots formed therein adjacent the ends thereof adapted to register with the slots formed in said corner pieces, securing means engaging said slots and operatively related to said corner pieces and angle members in a f manner to secure said front and rear portions in adjusted position with respect to each other, and a cover disposed over said portions and angle members.
