This invention relates to tables and more particularly to camp tables of the knockdown type.

The particular object-0f this invention is to provide a table wherein the various parts can'be titted into a most compact size. and when opened out for use, may be easily fitted together in a tight and'secure manner.

A further object of my invention is to pro vide a table of the knock-down type, which table will have its side members retained in positionby the end members.

A further object is to provide a table of the knock-down type wherein the loii'gitudinal side members and the cross end members are provided with a protruding ledge on their inner side, on which is retained the table top.

Other objects and advantages of my invention will become apparent ensuing a perusal of the followingspecification read in conjunction with the annexeddrawings, in which:

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of my invention showing the table top in position, the flexible connecting straps being shown in dotted lines.

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a section of one of the end uprights, one of the end cross members and one of the longitudinal side members, parts being broken away.

Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3--3 of Fig. 2.

Fig. 4 is a modified form of providing a protruding ledge to receive the table top.

Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the different views.

On one side of the angleiron, spaced tongues 6 are cut from the metal near the upper end, which tongues are bent inwardly at a right angle to the body portion of this side of the post. On the opposite side of the angle iron post 5, 1 provide an inwardly bent tongue 7, which extends outwardly at a right angle from the body portion of this side of the angle-iron post 5 and is then bent at right angles towards the outer edge of this side of the angle post 5;

The longitudinal side members v8 are formed in two sections and hinged as at 9 so that these side members can be folded into a compact size. At the opposite ends of the side members 8, openings 10 are formed, which openings correspond in size, position and shape to register tongue '6;

with and fit over the protrudin tongues 6 in oneside of the angle post 5 as hereinbefore described. 11 is cross end members provided at each end with a' out out portion 12 on its under side,which portion 12 isadapted to fit over the outwardly directed portion of the tongue 7. The end of the cross end member 11 will abut-the 'inner 'end' of the longitudinalside member 8 and retain it in its fixed position on the The outer end of the tongue 7, which is bentparallel to this side of the angle-ironpost 5, will retain the cross end member 11 against any inward movement.

The longitudinal side membersS and the cross end members 11 are provided neartheir upper inner edge with a ledge 14. This ledge may be provided in any "desired manner. In Figs. 2 and 3, angle-iron, having one side rivet-ed to the longitudinal side members 8 and the cross end member 11. I do not wish to limit myself to this particular construction asthe material forming the longitudinal side members 8 and the cross end members 11 may be Fig. 4;, as to provide so bent, as shown in an inwardly protruding ledge 14?.

15 is the table top preferably formed from cross slats, which may be secured together by flexible strips 16, so that the slats may be rolled up into a compact arrangement. Furthermore, the flexible strips will keep the slats in order for readily positioning them to fit over the inwardly protruding ledges 14. The thickness of the slats 15 is prefer ably the same as between the ledge 14: and the upper edge of the longitudinal side members 8 or the cross end members 11. In this way, a flat upper surface will be provided.

From a perusal of the description taken in connection with the annexed drawings, it will be appreciated that I have provided a simple construction wherein the fitting of the longitudinal side members and the cross end members to the angle-iron posts is simple, inexpensive and yet most effective.

The foregoing specification and annexed drawings discloses the preferred en'ibodiment of my invention, but it is to be understood that minor changes may be resorted to in the commercial adaptation of my invention without departin from the scope of the invention as herein efore claimed.

What I claim as new is:

1. In a table of the knock-down type com- 1 have shown small strips of prisin angle-iron corner posts; the upper end one side of said angle-iron postsbeing provided with spaced inwardl directed tongues; longitudinal side mem ers provided with spaced openings near their opposite ends fitted over said tongues; the other side of said angle-iron posts being provided with an inwardly vdirected tongue, the end of which is bent at right angles towards the outertedge. of said-side; cross end members, each provided with a slot formed in its under side near the opposite ends thereof, which slot is fitted over last said tongue; the ends of said cross end members abutting the inner ends of said longitudinal side members to retain the same in fixed position;'said longitudinal side members and the cross end members being provided with ledges near their upper inner edges and flexibly connectedcross slats fitting on said V ledges to form a top for said table.

2. In a table of the knock-down type comprising angle-iron'corner posts; said posts being provided with spaced inwardly directed tongues on one side and an inwardly directed tongue, the. end of whichvis bent outwardly at an angle, on the other side;

side members having openings fitted over said spaced tongues; cross end members having a slot near each end adapted to fit over said tongue; and the end of said cross end members abutting the ends of said side member to retain the same in fixed position; lodges in connection with said side members and end members; and a table top fitting on said ledges.

3. In a table of the knock-down type comprising angle-iron corner posts; said posts being provided with spaced inwardly directed tongues on one side and an inwardly directed tongue, the end of which is bent outwardly at an angle, on the other side; side members having openings fitted over said spaced tongues; cross end members having a slot near each end fitted over said tongues; and the ends of said cross end members abutting the ends of said side member to retainthe same in fixed position; a top for said table and a means of supporting said top from said side members and end members.
