Description
Dec. 3, 1929. HOTAYLQR 1,737,621
PORCH FLOOR PROTECTOR Filed May 5, 1928 ijjjjjjjjx '4 4 E 4 H W Patented Dec. 3, 1929 UNITED STATES ISAIAH H. TAYLOR, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND PORCH-FLOOR PROTECTOR Application filed May 5, 1928.
This invention relates to improvements in porch floor protectors, and has for its object to provide a simple, cheap and efiicient device to protect the exposed edges of the boards,
forming a porch floor, from Warping on account of exposure to the weather.
The invention consists of the novel construction and arrangement of the parts and combination of the parts hereinafter more fully set forth in the following specification and pointed out in detail in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a plan View of the porch floor showing my invention applied thereto.
Figure 2 is a front edge View partly broken away.
Figure 3 is a section on the line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 4; is an inverted plan View of the U-shape angle iron.
Referring to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification and in which like reference numerals designate like parts throughout the several views thereof,
1 designates the porch floor which is formed of the usual tongue and groove boards which are cut away at 3 on their outer ends. EX-
tending along and fitted over the outer edge of the boards forming the porch floor 1 is an approximately U-shaped angle iron 4:, the upper angle of which fits over the cut out portion 3 and has its upper surface flush with the upper surface of the porch floor, the lower angle of the said angle iron 4 projects under the edges of the boards forming the porch floor. The said angle iron 4 is held in position by the bolts 5 passing through the holes 6 in the upper and lower edges of the said iron 4:. The lower angle of the angle iron 4 is provided with a number of apertures 7 to carry off any water which may getunder the upper angle of the angle iron 4.
It will thusbe seen that by the use of my invention the ends of the boards forming the porch floor will be held in perfect alignment and prevented from warping and will also be protected against the weather.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
Serial No. 275,297.
