Description

Nov. 5, 1929. J'. G, I-IULME I 1,734,626
I HAIR CLOTH AND BIB HOLDER Filed March 20, 1928 Patented Nov. 5, 1929 U HT JOHN G. HULME, F CHISHOLM, MINNESOTA HAIRCLOTH AND BIB HOLDER Application filed. March 20, 1928. Serial No. 263,097.
The object of the invention is to have an uninjurious and a convenient means for holding a hair cloth which is. used to protect a person from hairs while having a haircut, or
being dressed or treated and for holding bibs on children while eating, or any other protection for a similar purpose. The holder is made of spring metal, bent into an elongated loop member, having arms which are normally spread apart as shown in Fig. 1. The ends of the arms are arranged so, that when taken into the right hand and placed between the thumb and index-finger, the same may be forced together, as shown in Fig. 2. The holder as shown in Fi 2 is now in position to be applied to the edge of the cloth, after which the arms are released to the position shown in Fig. 3 thereby securely gripping the cloth between the ends of the arms, without 2 tearing the same. lVhen it is desired to disengage the holder from the cloth, the arms are simply pressed toward each other as shown in Fig. 2, after which the cloth may be removed.
The shape of the holder may vary in detail, but the preferred embodiment is hereindescribed and shown in the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 is an illustration of the holder before the end 10 is brought over into engage ment with the U member 4.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the holder, showing the ends of the arms disengaged while the edges of the cloth are being adjusted between the said ends. Fig. 3 is a pictorial view of the holder showing it in service.
The invention consists in a construction and combination of parts, an elongated loop member 1, having arms 2 and 3, said arms terminating into the holding combination, as described hereinafter. The end of the loop arm 3 is formed into a U member 4, which is bent downwardly, at the point where the arm 5 of the U member 4 terminates, in a plane at right angles to the plane in which one of the arms of the loop member lies. The arms 5 and 6 of the U member 4 are close together so as to prevent the end portion 10, of the arm 2 of the loop member 1, from passing through the said U member 4. The loop arm 2 is bent at 7 towards the U member 4, so as to form the elongated portion 8, which permits the holding combination to open as shown in Fig. 2, then bent downwardly at 9, so as to form an end portion 10, said end portion adapted to cooperate with the arms 5 and 6 of the U member 4, as shown in Fig. 3.
The strength of the hold may be adjusted by a spread of the arms of the holder.
I claim:
A hair cloth and bib holder consisting of a resilient elongated loop member, having the extremities of its arms provided with a U member and an end portion respectively, for holding cloth by squeezing the same between the U member of one of the arms, and the end portion of the other arm of the loop member, said other arm having a bend towards the U member, .anelongated portion, a bend downward, and the end portion, said end portion adapted to cooperate with the arms of the U member, when the arms are normally tensioned away from each other from their contracted position by the resiliency of the elongated loop member, substantially as herein shown and described.
