Having thus described the invention in the best known embodiment and indicated the scope of its utility and application, what is claimed asnew and sought to secure by LettersPatent, is

A guard for containers comprising a top bar and side bars hinged at the ends thereof, a support plate,.,alock'ing bolt slidableon said supportplate to secure said guard bars in operative position, a key operated lock for said locking bolt, and means to release said guard 1 bars when said lock is key opened.

A'guard for containers comprising interengaging corner elements fixed on the containers, a series of bars circumj acentthe .containers, the top and side bars being hingedly engaged, said top and side bars being removable, asupport plate,-means to bolt said side bars to said support plate, When in operative position, and inreaching projections on said support plate to engagesaid corner elements.

A guard for containers comprising interengaging corner element fixed on the .containers, a support plate a series of bars circumjacent the containers, the top and side bars being hingedly engaged, cushion-butters on the top and sidebars'to contact the containers, intcrengaging means on the support plate to engage said corner elements, and key actuated locking means to secure said side bars inoperative positionon said support plate.

A guard for containers comprising in- V terengaging corner elements fixed on thecontainers, a support plate for the containers, a series of bars circumj acent the containers, the top and side bars being hingedly engaged, a locking bolt slidable longitudinally on said support plate, means carried by said sidebars to engage the ends of said locking bolt, means to positively lock the bolt in operative position, and means on the support plate to prevent r'emoyalof the containers when embraced by said bars. i i

Engagingimeans for containers comprising metal corner elements having projections onone of their contracting surfaces directed upwardly and corresponding recesses on opposed elements directed downwardly to permit registering engagement, a support plate having projections to engage the mentioned recesses, a top bar and end bars hinged to said top bar, means to releasably engage said bars to said support plate, and means carried by said bars to prevent abrasion of the containers. I
