This invention relates to churns, the general object being the provision of a supporting bracket for a crank arm and gear carried upon its inner end for support upon the cover for the churn and which gear meshing at appropriate points thereon with independently mounted gears in turn associated with the dashers or agitat-ing arms within the churn whereby a single operation in the rotation of the crank arm will rotate the dasher or agitating arms in opposite directions whereby the cream within the churn will be more quickly and easily converted into butter owing to the reverse directions of momentum of the agitating arms.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.

Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates a ar or receptacle having a closure lid or cover 11 threaded or otherwise secured to the neck therefor and which includes spaced parallel strips 12 cut therefrom for the reception and positioning of the oppositely and outwardly extending end portions 13 of a substantially inverted U-shaped bracket or support 14. The end portions 13 terminate in curvedouter ends for fitting engagement with the edge of the cover 11 as clearly shown in Figures 1 and 2. A vertically disposed shaft 15 being journaled within an inwardly extending transversely disposed apertured ear struck from one side of the 50 bracket 14, and said shaft is provided with a 1926. -seria1 Nq. 99,345.
plurality of .lugs 17 extending outwardly therefrom for the purpose ofsupporting the shaft on the ear 16 as clearly shown in Figure 1 of the drawings. A gear indicated by the yreference numeral 18 is mounted upon the- `clearly shown in Figure4 of the drawings and is mountedfor rotation in a sleeve secured in an opening formed in the cover or lid11. The rectangular portion 21 is received wit-hin opposed substantially V-shaped portions 22 provided in the hilt or upper horizontal dis-5 posed portion 24 of a pair of downwardly extending agitatory arms 25 in a manner whereby when the sleeve 19 is moved, like movement will be imparted to the agitator arms 25. The V-shaped portions 22 are,n formed upon the opposite sides of a longitudinal slit arranged in the horizontal disposed portion 24 as suggested in Figure 1. The shaft 15 is provided With a longitudinallyl disposed slot 26 arranged in its lower portionl: for receiving an additional agitator blade 27 which is secured in the slot as best shown in Figure 5 of the drawings.
Rotatably mounted within a sleeve 28 secured in and extending outwardly fromv one side of the bracket k14 is the inwardly extending end portion of a crank shaft 30, the inner end of this portion 29 has secured thereto a relatively large gear 31 which is disposed in mesh with the respective gears 18 and 20 upon the shaft 15 and sleeve 19 as shown.
Secured to the cover or lid 11 and passing therethrough as best shown in Figure 2 of the drawings is a tube 32.
From the above description and disclosure of the drawings, it will be obvious that in the `operation of the device that upon rotation of the gear 31 by the crank arm 30 the respective gears 18 and 20 will be caused to rotate i in opposite directions whereby the agitator arms 25 and 27 respectively will be caused to operate in like manner whereby the contents of lthe receptacle 10 will become more 5 readily stirred, mixed and churned and the action attained thereby will transform cream contained-in the receptacle into butter products inless time than is usually-taken in the operation of singularly operable and. rotating 10 agitators.
