Our invention relates to improvements in curtain and shade roller supporters, of the form comprising a combination of devices for supporting curtains, draperies, and

. window shade rollers from the window casing and involving the use of rods for the curtains and draperies that are adjustable as to the effective length so as to permit of the use of supports for such rods that are fixed as to the lateral separation on the casing, and having supports for the shade roller that are adjustable to accommodate rollers of different length, and the object of our improvement is to produce curtain and shade roller supporting means in whichthese results are attained in a simple, economical,

and efficient manner and having means that permit of the choice in the use of rods as between such as are well known as having curved or rounded supporting ends for spacing the curtain from the casing and also for supporting the likewise well known rods of straight form and which usually terminate in the form of an ornamental ball or the like.

In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a rear elevation of a window casing that is equipped with our improved curtain and shade roller supporting means and supporting a pair of rods, one for the 30 curtain and the other for the drapery.

Figure 2 is a plan View of the same.

Figure 3 is a plan View of the same supporting a rod of straight form.

Figure 4 is a rear elevation on an enlarged scale of the structure on one side only of the window casing.

Our improved curtain and shade roller 7 supporter comprises a pair of supports 10 that are located at the opposite sides of the window casing 11 that have holders 12 for supporting the ends of the shade roller 13 and that have other supporting devices for for the curtains and the draperies.

A common arrangement for supporting cutains and draperies comprises the use of an inside rod 14 for the curtain and an out side rod 15 for the drapery, the rods being adjustable as to the effective length by having overlapping telescoping ends 16, and which have curved forwardly directed end portions 17 that engage with the supports. Also, adjacent the extreme front ends 18 are vertical perforations 19 that fit over suitable supporting pins 20.

In the present instance the pins 20 are the upwardly directed branches of bent Wire structures 21 that project rearwardly from a flat plate-like base 22, and that are secured thereto by riveting in any proper manner.

Another form of curtain rod 23 is in the form of a straight tubular structure that terminates in the form of ornamental balllike structures and that is provided adjaeent the ends with perforations 25 for thesupporting pins 26. In order that the curtain supported by the rod 23 will be positioned at the rear of the shade roller 13 the spacing of said rod 23 from the base 22 is effected by supporting the pins 26 the proper distance from the base. That isto say, the

rod 23 being straight, the spacing is effected by making the supporting branch 27 of the bent wire structure 28, of which the pin 26 is a part, relatively long.

The connection 29. for the bent wire structure' 28 with the plate 22 is of double swivel form, involving the use of a connecting block 30 to which the front end portion 31 of the bent wire structure 28 ispivotally connected and which is itself connected to the plate 22 by a pivotal connection 32 that permits of rotation about a horizontal axis.

Thus the block 30 has a forwardlydirected integral stud 33 that projects through an opening 34 in the plate 22 and that is headed over at the front end.

The block 30 has a diminutive plain flat platform 35 that can be swung to the horizontal position when the supporting pin 26 is to be used for supporting the rod 23 and the pivotal connection 36 for the bent Wire str ioture 28 is located so as to permit the supporting branch 27 to swing to and fro along said platform 35.

When the straight curtain rod 23 is not to be used the bent wire structure 28 is swung around on a pivot 33 and assumes a pendant position.

It is desirable to limit the outward swinging movement of the bent wire structure 28. The means for doing this, as shown, comprise an upwardly directed stop-flange 37 along one edge of the platform 35.

The base 22 is supported from the casing 11 by means of screws that are entered in the holes 38.

The rod supporting devicesdescribed are located at the upper portion of the plate 22 and the shade roller holders 12 are at the lower portion thereof.

The holder 12 at the left has the usual slot 39 for cooperating with the corresponding end of the roller 13 and the holder 12 at the right has a plain circular opening.

The holders 12 are of cylindrical form and fit within horizontal sleeve-like receiving members that are provided on brackets 40 that project from the rear faces of the plates 22.

Set-screws 41 secure the holders 12 in place.

Tubing may be used for the body portions 42 of the holders 12 andby having the ends plugged the material for said body portions 42 may be relatively thin.

Also, the plug 43 at one end may have the slot 39 for the left end of the shade roller 23 and the plug 44 at the other end may have the plain circular opening 45 for the right end thereof so that the holders 12 can be made alike and will be interchangeable.

The set-screw 41 may have a wing head or may have a kerfed head for use with a screw-driver.

In a shade roller supporter, a bracket structure provided with a transverse opening, a shade-roller holder slidably engaged within said opening and having end struc tures that are provided with receiving openings for the pintle ends of a shade-roller, and said holder being in the form of an elongated tubular. body. of relatively thin material that has the ends closed and reinforced by the material of said end structur'es.

2. In a curtain holder, a plate-like base 7 for being applied to a window casing, provided with a plurality of openings for supporting screws, and also provided with a perforation, a block having a flat face which carries, integral with it, a pivoting portionextending through said perforation and headed over to prevent accidental removal of tllelOlOLl; from the base, a side face of said block beingfinished as a platform and provided with a perforation, and

a curtain-rod support pivotally connected to said block by means entered through said support.
