IMPROVEMENT IN INKSTANDS.

The nature of my invention consistsin applying a trencher to an inkstand'i'n such a manner that theworking of the trencher wiil open and shut the inkstand.

I make a flat post with a pivot at each end, and twist it from right to left about half-way around, and at a distance from its lower end a littie greater than the depth of the flange f.

I To operate this my device, rest the hand that holds the pen upon the free edge of the trencher. This raises the notched end and twisted post until the bottom of the post clears the flange, and then rotatesit, thus lifting the cover from the neck n and then swinging it off. On filling and wiping my pen I remove my hand from the trencher, when the reverse action takes place, and the spring 6 hugs the cover closely upon the neck again.
