Description

Qctl s, 1929. H, BEEB 1,731,090
GAS BURNER Filed June 18. 1928 Patented Oct. 8, 1929 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE JOHN HENRY BEEBY, OF MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA, ASSIGNOR TO E. L.
AUDE, OF MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA GAS BURNER Application filed June 18,
The present invention relates to improvements in gas burners and is a modification of my United States Patent No. 1,466,291, dated August- 28th, 1923.
The main object of this invention is to provide means of readily adjusting the spreader in the burner to control the egress of at its exit end.
he invention is hereinafter tully described and claimed, and is illustrated in the accompanying tlI[L\ViIlg','iI1 which a vertical section view through a burner according to the invention is shown.
Referring to the drawing; 1 is the body or a burner and 2 is an uprigut extension t mating in an exit open end 3, having an inwardly bevelled seat l. In the side of said body is provided an opening 5 in which is connected the lateral extension 6, which usually projects adjacent the front of the stove where it is suitably connected to the gas main (not disclosed in the drawin.
Upon the bevelled seat t of the burner is adjustably mounted a spreader member 7, preferably of conical shape, its bevelled edges 8 co-acting with the seat l, the outer face of said spreader being preferably wider than the outer circumference of said seat at, said spreader also having a downward central depending tubular member 9, inwardly threaded adapted to receive the threaded end of the upright spindle 10, which is fixedly secured. in the bottom or lower IQdDfOICGd wall 11 of the burner.
On the upper flat surface of the spreader 7 is preferably provided a square hole 12, by means of which the spreader may be adjusted by inserting a suitable tool therein.
To provide for a firm and precise adjustment of the spreader a spiral spring 13 is provided around the spindle 10, said spring abutting at one end against the inner side of the spreader and at its other end against the bottom of the burner, so that a constant pressure against said spreader will be provided, to lock same in adjusted position.
What I claim as my invention is In a burner of the character described, means for controlling the egress of air and. gas mixture from said burner, said means 1923. Serial No. 286,211.
comprising a spreader having on its inner side a depending inwardly threaded tubular member and a centrally disposed square hole in its outer surface, a rod fixedly secured in the bottom of said burner at one end and suitably threaded at its other end to engage in said threaded tubular men'ibcr, and a spiral spring wholly located within said burner mounted around said rod and tubular member and adapted to press said spreader apart from the exit of said burner.
Signed at Montreal, Quebec, Canada, this 14th day of June, 1928.
JOHN HENRY BEEBY.
