FISHERMANS KIT.
Application filed December 28, 1927.
The present invention relates -to a fisher* mans liit in Which the various portions oi his tackle used in angling may be compactly stored for accessible use. The invention comprises a plurality of nesting receptacles hinged together and contains in compact andY orderly arrangement, the various accessories necessary for his use.
In carrying out the invention I provide preferably three sectional dished parts hinged together the hinges preferably being in different circumferential positions to permit more compact nesting. The several dished parts are preferably of circular formation, the tivo outer ones being more deeply (lished or recessed and joined by a hinge on one side and a spring latch on the other. The lower member is provided with a plurality of compartments With hinged covers to contain various small portions of the fishermans tackle each compartment being provided with a spring-pressed lid to retain the tackle with a compact central compartment containing retaining springs in which may be supported hoolrs and gutted connections therefor in symmetrical order. The outer receptacle has a plain surface with a plurality of depressed receptacles to store anti-septies and a surrounding larger annular concentric Wall on Which may be mounted the leaders. ln the center of this pivoted member is mounted a rotary post for convenient use in reeling and unreeling the leaders. Pivotally Connected with this outer member is a shallow folding pivoted metallic casing carrying a mirror for convenient use in field Work.
The invention therefore essentially comprises a compact fishermans kit or outfit for storing his various forms of taclrle composed of a plurality of foldable chambered receptacles with a plurality of spring lidded con'ipartments for containing plain hooks, gutted hooks, reeled leaders, a field mirror, anti-septic boxes and various other parapliernalia important to a fishermans necessity or convenience.
The several features of novelty will be more fully hereinafter described and Will be specifically indicated in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a plan of a kit embodying my improvements j Fig. 2 is a plan of the kit opened;
Fig. 3 is a median vertical section;
Serial No. 243,097.
Fig. tion;
F ig. 5 represents a sectional detail of the kit closed; Y
Fig. 6 is a part section of a hinged joint for the intermediate section;
Fig. 7 is a partial section of the hinged casing open;
Fig. 8 is a part section of the joint be` tween the middle and outer section;
Fig. 9 is a detail of a latch.
Referring novv particularly to the drawings, Figure 2 represents in open relation three hinged parts composing chambered receptacles capable of folding into close compact relation as indicated in Figure 3 the several compartments il, 2, 3 are hinged together as at 4l and 5 on planes circumferentially displaced so that the section 3 may fold into and rest Within the receptacle 2 and the section 1 may be brought snugly against 2 With the edges in register and latch together by a spring latch hanging over a projection ledge 6, The sections 1 and 2 are of the same 'depth Whereas 3 is very much shorter and is provided with a fianged cir cular edge 18 tov secure a mirror 19. The section 2 is provided With a series of depressions- 20, 21 to accommodate receptacles to contain medical supplies and 24 to permit of mounting a rotary Winding stem for reeling off a line 'Wound on radial pins 27 supported on cylindrical supports-connected with a depressed part of the casing 2. The other outer member is divided into three transverse compartments the central one 14 containing a tension spring 11, 11 at its respective ends to form a support for gutted or plain hooks having elastic coils for convenient clamping.
In the side of the receptacle 1 adjacent the compartment 11i are formed a plurality 4l is an enlarged plan of a lower secof receptacles 15, 15a, 15b, 15, 15d, 15e,`
adapted to form receptacles in. Which to store small fishing accessories such as loose fiy hooks, spoons, miscellaneous articles, B By shot, single hooks, large sinkers, etc., each of which is provided with a normally springclosed lid, the central storage compartments Where springs 14 in their spirals clamp gutted, plain and fly hooks are also provided With a spring-controlled lid, the several lids being provided With means for raising them as a recess to receive the finger nail. The hinge l, carrying the field mirror, is displaced circumferentially with `reference to the hinge 5, the sheet metal backing of which is of smaller radius than the members l and 2 so that when the kit is compacted it Will lie snugly related to the outer compartments of the container l and 2.
It Will be thus apparent that I have provided a kit for storing ishing paraphernalia well adapted for convenientservice of the isherman and carrying in a Very small compass conveniences adapted to his several needs. Access to the antiseptics may be obtained by moving the pivot lid 227Without opening the kit, and When the kit is opened any desired accessory may be conveniently removed. By raising the handle 26 a leader i'nay unreeled by leading it 'from the supports 27 and rotating the carrier on which they are mounted.
IIa-ving thus described my invention, what I 4claim'as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. A ishermans kit comprising a pair ot hinged circular disk shaped members having a spring latch connection, one member having partitioned compartments to hold'hooks and further fishing paraphernalia, each compartment being provided With a spring lid,
the other member having "on its out-side a circular depression of less diameter containing outside pockets and lids therefor for medical supplies, and a rotary unreeling member, guide pins on the inner periphery of said depression adapted to contain coiled lines, and a hinged cover for said member, said hinge beingoiset from the iirst mentioned hinge connection.
2. A lishermans kit' comprising a pair of cupped receptacles, a. hinge connecting them, latching Vmeans for retaining them closed, the one receptacle containing in the inside independent normally closed compartments for various forms of small tackle, each having a spring lid, the other outside receptacle having a depressed central part with a plurality of receptacles for easy accessible medical supplies on its outside, a circular Wall on its inside With detents for storing lines, and a hinged cover adapted to nest Within the last mentioned receptacle having its hinge otliset with respect to the aforesaid hinge connection.
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature.
