CONCRETE-REENFORCEMENT SUPPORT.
Application filed February 25, 1927. Serial No. 170,863.
This invention relates to concrete reenforcement supports, and more particularly to such supports for supporting mesh reenforcement material in the making of concrete roads, slabs and the like, and has for its object the provision of a support which will suspend the reenforcing material in the form until the concrete has been poured after which the support may be bodily removed and relocated to support other reenforcement as the pouring progresses.
Another object is to provide a support having the novel structural features hereinafter described and illustrated in the draw- 1 ings.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a section of road having the reenforcement mesh supported by the supports of this invention.
Figure 2 is a perspective detail on a large scale showing one of the reenforcement supporting legs on its shaft.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 2 designates the side forms mounted at each side edge of the roadway. A plurality of the reenforcement supporting members of this invention, designated generally by the letter B are mounted across the roadway and supported on the side forms 2,
and the mesh reenforcement 3 and 4 is suspended on the members B as shown, the lower sheet 8 being supported above the road base and the upper sheet 4 being supported in spaced relation above the sheet 3.
The members B are each composed of a suporting shaft 5 which may be hollow as shown, or solid as desired, and a plurality of reenforcement supporting legs 6 which have a split eye 7 at their upper ends adapted to be fitted over the shaft 5 and clamped in position by a bolt 8. The legs 6 are adapted to be slidably adjusted longitudinally of the shaft 5 when the bolts 8 are loosened to vary the spacing of the legs to suit the mesh being supported.
Each of the legs 6 is provided with a plurality of branches or arms 9 which are formed integral with the legs 6 and extend at right angles thereto at vertically spaced points on the legs. Each of the legs 6 has its lower end bent at right angles to the body of the leg and in a direction opposite to the arms 9 to form a foot portion 10.
The shaft 5 is adapted to be supported on the upper edges of the forms 2, and the legs 6 are adapted to extend downwardly there from with the foot portions 10 of the legs resting on the road base, so that the shaft 5 18 supported along its entire length by the legs 6, and the legs also serve as sub-base templets.
The shaft 5 has one or both ends slotted, as at 12, to receive a turning crank 13 so that the shaft may be turned or revolved to lift the legs 6 out of the poured concrete, and the whole support moved bodily to anew location.
In operation, the supports B are placed at spaced intervals on the side forms for the road to be made, and the standard sheets of reenforcement on the arms 9 of the legs 6, one sheet being thus suspended above the other. The concrete is then poured and flows around the sheets of reenforcement mesh, and the supporting members may then be removed and mounted in a new location.
If desired, the reenforcement mesh may be assembled from individual bars on the job, by first placing the supports B in position and then mounting transverse reenforcing bars across the series of arms 9 on each of the members B, then supporting longitudinal bars on the transverse bars and interlacing pther transverse bars with the longitudinal )ELIS.
WVhile I have shown and described one specific embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that I do not wish to be limited thereto since various modifications may be made without departing from the scope of my invention as defined in the appended claims.
I claim 1. A concrete reenforcement support comprising a supporting shaft, a plurality of legs on said shaft, each of said legs being provided with at least one reenforcement supporting arm, and a foot member on the lower end of each of said legs adapted to engage the surface on which the concrete is being poured and to support said shaft.
2. A concrete reenforcement support for supporting reenforcement in concrete roads and the like, comprising the combination 1 with side forms, of a supporting shaft supported on said side forms, a plurality of legs on said shaft, each of said legs being provided with at least one integral reenforcement supporting arm, and a foot member on the lower end of each of said legs adapted to engage the surface on which the con crete is being poured and to support said shaft at points intermediate said side forms.

A concrete reenforcement support for supporting reenforcement in concrete roads and the like, comprising the combination with side forms, of a supporting shaft supported on said side forms, a plurality of legs on said shaft, each of said legs being provided with a plurality of reenforcement supporting arms extending at right angles to said legs, and an integral foot member on the lower end of each of said legs adapted to engage the surface on which the concrete is being poured to support said shaft at points intermediate said side forms.

A concrete reenforcement support comprising a supporting shaft, a plurality of legs'on said shaft, each of said legs being provided with at least one reenforcement supporting arm, and at least some of said leg members being provided with a footmember at their lower end adapted to engage the surface on which the concrete is being poured to support said shaft.
5. A. concrete reenforcement support comprising a rotatable supporting shaft, a plurality of legs depending from said shaft and adjustable longitudinally thereon, and each of said legs being provided with at least one integral reenforcement supporting arm.
6. A concrete reenforcement support for supporting reenforcement in concrete roads and the like, comprising the combination with the side forms for the concrete, of a supporting shaft rotatably supported on said side forms, a plurality of leg members depending from and adjustable longitudinally of said shaft, and each of said leg members being provided with a plurality of integral reenforcement supporting arms extending at right angles to said legs.
7. A concrete reenforcement support for supporting reenforcement in concrete roads and the like, comprising the combination with the side forms for the concrete, of a supporting shaft supported on said side forms, a plurality of leg members depending from and adjustable longitudinally of said shaft, each of said leg members being provided with at least one reenforcement supporting arm extending at ri ht angles to said legs, and at least some of said leg 1neni bers being provided with a foot portion extending at right angles to the leg and adapted to engage the surface on which the concrete is being poured to support said shaft at points intermediate said side forms.
