DISPLAY AND DECORATING DEVICE.
Application filed November 3, 1928. Serial No. 317,103.l
This invention relates to improvements in display and decorating devices, and more particularly it relates to a display connection between ends of material.
An object of the invention is the provision of a display connection between ends of relatively short pieces of material such as strips of paper, enabling the use of such short strips of material to span a desired distance and to give the effect of a continuous strip or piece of material.
Another object is the provision of a device enabling the connection of aligned. strips of the same or different color on opposite sides of said connection.
These and other objects I attain by the construction shown in the accompanying drawings wherein, for the purpose of illustration, is shown a preferred embodiment Vof my invention and wherein:
Figure l is a front view of my display device.
Fig. 2 is a View of the device with the cover removed.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 3-3 of Fig. l.
Fig. 4 is a sectional detail.
In the drawings, l represents the con necting device between the ends of the oppositely extending aligned strips of material, A, B, C, and D, the outer ends of which are secured as desired to any suitable frame such as a show window frame.
A main or base plate 2 of any desired yshape is provided with openings 3 ,and 4t at its opposite ends through whichthe inner ends of strips A, B, C, and D extend from the rear side to the front side of said plate. Flat sticks or anchor strips 5 and 6 span the apertures 3 and 4t respectively and engage the front of said base plate with the ends of the material A, B, C, and D wrapped thereabout and clamped between the sticks and the plate.
The front side of the plate is provided with cleat members 7 and 8 having flanges 9 and 10 overlying said apertures and receiving said Wrapped sticks thereunder to prevent turning of said wrapped sticks and to further engage and hold the material against slippage.
A cover member or lid l1 overlies the base plate and is secured to said' cleats in any suitable way, as by tacks. rlhe cover is adapted for advertising as desired.
Strips of different colored material, such as paper, cloth or the like are joined by my device to provide a decorative display unit, in which the substantially aligned strips of the same or different color give the appearance of constituting a single unbroken strip or sheet of fabric or the like, carrying` centrally thereof a display or advertising des vice.
My device may be madeV in any number of desired shapes and designs andA may `be made of any suitable material.
It may be used for advertising purposes, such as show cards, window. displays and lithographs and the like.
I do not wish to limit myself to the exact structure shown, Yas it will be understood that many modifications may be made within the scope of the invention defined in the appended claims.
I claim:
l. In combination in a display and decorating device a main base plate having apertures therein, strip material passing through said apertures from the rear side of said plate, sticks in front of said plate over said apertures and about which the end of the material is wrapped, means for retaining said wrapped sticks against the base, and a cover overlying said base plate and sticks and secured to said base plate.
2. In combination in a display and decorating device, a base plate having apertures therethrough, material passed through said apertures from the rear side yof said base plate, flat sticks in front of said plate over said apertures, the ends of saidl material being wrapped about said sticks, cleat members on said base plate each having a flange overlying said apertures to engage and pre-` vent said Wrapped sticks from turning, andl a cover secured to said cleats.
3. In combination in a display Vand decorating device, a base plate having apertures through opposite ends thereof, ends of material lpassed through said apertures from the rear side of said base plate, said materizd extending in opposite directions from said base platte7 Hat sticks engaging the ront of said plate and spanning said apertures, the endsmof said material passed through said apertures being Wrapped about said sticks, and cleat members on the front of said hase plate each having a flange overlying said apertures to receive said Wrapped sticks thereunder to prevent the sticks Yfrom turning, and a front cover plete overlying 10 the base plate and secured to said cleats.
In testimony whereof, I aix4 my signa,- ture. Y
FREDERICK THEODORE NECKER.
