STOVE STRUCTURE.
Application filed August 1'7, 1928.
The main obj ect of this invention is to provide an improved stove structure in which the walls are so formed and mounted on the frame as to entirely conceal the frame and wall fastenings.
Further objects will appear from the detailed description to follow. The invention is defined in the claims.
A structure which embodies the features of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a fragmentary front perspective view of a stove embodying the features of my invention.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail section on a line corresponding to line 22 of Fig. 1..
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary perspective view of one of the legs.
Referring to the drawing, 1 represents the oven of a gas stove and 2 the open burner top thereof. The front wall unit 3 is adapted for an oven door 4 and broiler door 5. The details of the doors form no part of this invention and are not further illustrated.
The structure is provided with a base frame (5 of angle cross sect-ion disposed with the angle facing inwardly and downwardly. The wall unit 3 is formed of sheet metal.
The lower edge of the wall is folded inwardly upon itself at 7 and terminates in an inwardly projecting flange 8 which is arranged upon the inwardly projecting arm 9 of the frame. The inturned portion 7 of the all lies against the vertical arm of the frame as shown in Fig. 2 and is of a width corresponding to the vertical width of the frame so that the edge 10 of the wall is in substantially the horizontal plane of the edge of the frame and the frame is thereby completely covered and concealed by the wall.
The leg 11 is provided with an inwardly offset annular portion 12 Which is arranged in the angle of the frame, the inward offset providing a shoulder 13 abutting against the lower edge of the frame and the lower edge of the wall providing a close joint as illustrated. The wall is secured to the inwardly projecting arm of the frame and the leg is also secured in the angle of the frame by means of bolts 14 arranged through the flange, the inwardly projecting arm of the frame and the attaching ears 15 of the leg. Nuts 16 are arranged on the under side of the attaching ears. The wall attaching means is by this arrangement entirely concealed. The attaching means for Serial No. 300,294.
the parts are also concealed and at the same time are readily accessible for the assembling and disassembling of parts should occasion require.
1 have illustrated only such parts of a stove as I deem desirable for the illustration of a practical adaptation of my improvements. It will be understood that the side and other walls of the stove may be secured to the frame in the same relation.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. The combination in a stove, of a base frame of angled cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly and downwardly, a sheet metal wall unit, the lower edge of which is folded inwardly upon itself and terminates in an inwardly projecting flange disposed upon the horizontal arm of said frame, the infolded portion of said wall being of a width corresponding approximately to the vertical width of said frame and lying against the vertical arm thereof, a leg having an inward ly offset angled attaching portion disposed within the angle of said frame and providing a shoulder abutting the lower edge of the. wall unit, and attaching bolts disposed through the inwardly projecting horizontal arm of said frame, the flange overlying said frame, and said attaching portion of said leg.
2. The combination in a stove, of a base frame of angled cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly and downwardly, a sheet metal wall unit, the lower edge of which is folded inwardly upon itself and terminates in an inwardly projecting flange disposed upon the horizontal arm of said frame, the infolded portion of said wall being of a width corresponding approximately to the vertical width of said frame and lying against the vertical arm thereof, and attaching bolts disposed through the inwardly project-ing horizontal arm of said frame and the flange overlying said frame.
3. The combination in a stove, of a frame element of angled cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, a sheet metal wall unit, the edge of which is folded inwardly upon itself and terminates in an inwardly projecting flange disposed upon the inwardly projecting arm of said frame element, the width of the infolded portion of said wall unit corresponding approximately to the width of said frame element whereby the frame element is covered, and means for securing said inwardly projecting flange of said wall unit to the inwardly projecting flange of said frame element whereby the attaching means is concealed.
4. The combination in a stove, of a frame element of angled cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, a wall unit having an inwardly projecting flange disposed in spaced relation to the edge of the wall unit and resting npon the horizontal arm of said frame element, the flange on said wall unit being spaced from the adjacent edge of the wall unit so that the frame element is covered by said Wall unit, and fastening devices disposed on the inner side of the wall unit and connecting said wall unit flange to the in wardly projecting arm of said frame element, said wall unit concealing said frame element and said fastening devices.
5. The combination in a stove, of a frame element, a wall unit having an inwardly projecting flange disposed in spaced relation to the edge of the wall unit and resting upon said frame element, the flange on said wall unit being spaced from the adjacent edge of the wall unit so that the frame element is covered by said wall unit, and fastening de- Vices connecting said wall unit flange to said frame element, said fastening devices being disposed within said wall unit whereby they are concealed, said wall unit also concealing said frame element. v
6. The combination in a stove, of a horizontally disposed angle iron frame element, a wall unit having an inwardly projecting flange arranged upon and secured to said frame element, said wall unit overhanging and concealing said frame element and the fastening of the wall element thereof, and a leg secured to the under side of said frame element so that its fastening is also concealed.
