Be it known that I, ALFRED J REEDY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bat- -tle Creek, county of Calhoun, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in stoves. i
My improvements are especially designed by me for embodiment in gas and electric stoves and I have illustrated the same in one form in which I have embodied them in gas stoves although my improvements are desirable and readily adapted for use in other types of stoves and ranges. v
'Ihe main objects of the invention are:
First, to provide an improved stove body in which the wallattaching parts for the front frame areall hidden or on the inside, thereby adding to the. appearance of the structure.
Second, to provide an improved stove embodying the parts of my invention which may be quickly and easily assembled.
Third, to provide an improved stove body which may be made of comparatively light material and at the same time is strong and durable and attractive in appearance. Further objects, and objects relating to structural details, will definitely.y appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompan ing drawing, forming a part of this appllcation, in which:
Fig. I is a front perspective view 4of a gas stove embodying the features of my invention.
Fig. II is a front elevation of a/ slightly modified form, the modification being in the arrangement of the doors and hinges, thei other parts being identical with those of Fig.
Fig. III is an enlarged fragmentary section on a line corresponding to line 3--3 of Figs. I and II.
Fig. IV is an enlarged fragmentary sec# tion on a line corresponding to line 4--4 of Figs. I and II.
Fig. V is a vvertical detail section on a line corresponding to line 5-5 of Fig. III.
Fig. VI is a detail section on a line corresponding to line 6 6 of Fig. II, showing the arrangement of the hinge.
Fig. VII is a detail section on a line corresponding to line 7--7 of Fig. I.-
Fig. VIII is a detail section correspond ing to that of Fig. IV illustrating a slight modification in which the nut of the attaching bolt is secured to the frame member instead of the bolt as shown in F ig. IV.
In the drawing similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views and the sectional views are taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section lines.
Referring to the drawing, the structure illustrated comprises an oven, designated generally by the numeral l, and an open top, designated generally by the numeral 2. The oven l is provided with a front frame comprisin a top member 3 and side members 4. 'I ese top and side members are of angle cross section and are formed integrally or of a single piece, the corners being cut out to permit their being bent up and welded so that a continuous surface 1s presented at the front, that is, there is no open joint between the parts. This front frame is disposed with its angles facing inwardly and the front arm thereof has a continuous longitudinal corrugation providing a continup in the angles of the wall flanges, clamping the same to the frame, the' attaching bolts being arranged through both the flanges and the attaching strips. providing supports for/the oven linings l5.
The top 16 has downturned side flanges 17 which are secured to the upper edges of the walls by the bolts 18, the upper edges of the walls and the flanges having inturned portions 19 through which the bolts 18 are arranged. The top 16 has an inwardly offset attaching flange 2O which is supported by the top clamping strip 21 which is of the same character as the clamping strips for the side walls described.
The top 16 is provided with a downturned flange 17 at its rear edge which overlaps the rear' wall 10- and is secured thereto by the bolts 18.
The door 22 in the embodiment shown in Fig. I is provided with hinges 23 secured at the bottom of the front frame, similar hinges 24 supporting the lower door 25 in the embodiment shown in Fig. II.
The door 26 of the embodiment shown in Fig. I is also a drop door, its hinges 23 being the same as the hinges for the bottom door.
In the embodiment shown in Fig. II the upper door 27 swingshorizontally upon pintles carried by the hinge members 2S disposed through openings 29 provided therefor in the frame members. These details, however, of the doors form no part of my present invention.

I have illustrated and described my, improvements in embodiment which I have found very desirable in use.
I have not attempted to illustrate or describe other adaptations and modifications which I contemplate as I believe the disclosure made will enable those skilled in the art to which my invention relates to embod or adapt the same as may be desired.
aving thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Iietters Patent, is:
1. In a stove, the combination of a front frame comprising integral top and side members of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, the front arm of said frame being provided with a continuous longitudinal corrugation providing a continuous longitudinal external bead and a continuous internal channel, walls having inwardly offset angled attaching flanges disposed in the angles of said frame with their offsets engaging the rear edges there of, channel-shaped wall supporting strips disposed in the angles of said wall flanges to face rearwardly, and attaching bolts hav- Maase? ing one member thereof welded in said channel of said frame engaging said flanges and clamping strips, and lining secured to the inner arms of Said attaching strips.
2. In a stove, the combination of a front frame comprising integral top and side members of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, the front arm of said frame being provided with a continuous longitudinal corrugation providing a continuous longitudinal external bead and a continuous internal channel, walls having inwardly offset angled attaching flanges disposed in the angles of said frame with their offsets engaging the rear edges thereof wall supporting strips disposed in the angles of said wall flanges, and attaching bolts having one member thereof Welded in said channel of said frame engaging said ianges and clamping strips.
3. In a stove, the combination of a frame of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, the front arm of said frame being provided with a longitudinal corrugation providing a longitudinal external bead and an internal channel, walls disposed in the angles of said frame, channel-shaped wall supporting strips disposed in the angles of said frame to engage said walls to face rearwardly, and attaching bolts having a member thereof welded in said channel of said frame engaging said flanges and clamping channels, and lining secured to the inner arms of said attaching strips.
4. In a stove, the combination of a frame of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, the front arm of said frame being provided with a longitudinal corrugation providing a longitudinal external bead and an internal channel, walls disposed in the angles of said frame, wall supporting strips disposed in the angles of said frame to engage said walls, and attaching bolts having a member thereof welded in said channel of said frame engaging said flanges and clamping channels.
5. In a gas stove, the combination of a frame comprising integral top and side members of angle cross section disposed With the angle facing inwardly, the front arm of said frame being provided with a continuous longitudinal corrugation providing a continuous longitudinal external bead and a continuous internal channel, walls having their edges disposed within said frame, wall supporting strips disposed in the langle of said frame to face rearwardly, and attaching members for said strips welded in said channel of said frame.
6. In a gas stove, the combination of a frame of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, the one arm of said frame being provided with a longitudinal corrugation providing a longitudinal external bead and an internal channel, walls maar having their edges disposed within said frame, wall supporting strips disposed in the angle of said frame to face rearwardly, and attaching bolts for said strips having one member thereof welded in said channel of said frame.
7. In a stove, the combination of a front frame comprising top and side members of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, one arm of said frame being provided with a longitudinal corrugation providing a longitudinal external bead and an internal channel, walls disposed withl their ed es within said frame, and means for attac ing said walls to said frame comprising bolts, one member of which is weld ed in said channel.
8. In a stove, the combination of a frame member of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, one arm of said frame being provided with va longitudinal corrugation providing a longitudinal external bead and an internal channel, and wall attaching means comprising bolts, one member of which is welded in said channel.
9. A stove comprising a front frame of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, one arm of said frame being provided with a longitudinal corrugation providing a longitudinal external bead and an internal channel, and attaching means for said frame comprising bolts, one member of which is welded in said channel.
10. A stove comprising a front frame of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, one arm of said frame being` provided with a longitudinal corru` gation providing "a longitudinal external bead 'and an internal channel.
l1. A stove comprising a frame member of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, one arm of said frame member being provided with a longitudinal corrugation providing an externalbead and an internal channel, and attaching bolts hav-' ing their heads welded in said channel.
12. A stove comprising a frame member of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, one arm of said frame member being provided with a longitudinal corrugation providing an external bead and an internal channel, and attaching bolts having one member thereof welded in said channel.`
13. A stove comprising a frame member of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, one arm of said frame member being provided with a longitudinal corrugation providing an external bead and an internal channel, and attaching members welded in said channel.
14. A stove comprising a frame member -of angle cross section disposed with the anle facing inwardly, one arm of said frame aving a longitudinal raised rib providing an internal channel, and attaching members welded in said channel.
15. A stove body comprising a frame member of angle cross section disposed with the angle facing inwardly, one arm of said frame having 'a longitudinal raised rib struck up therefrom providing an internal channel, ,and attaching members disposed in said channel.
