Application filed. March 20, 1928. Serial No. 263,175.
The present'invention. relates to an improved pump jack of the type employed for converting reciprocatory motion of a power rod into vertical.reciprocatory motion of a pump rod through the medium of an inter vening rockably mounted frame with which said rods have operating connection.
My principal aim is to generally improve upon structures of this class by providing one which is characterized by a novel yarrangement of details cooperating in a novel manner for better fulfilling requirements of a structure of this class.-
The details and their association, and combination will be more readily apparent from the following description and drawings.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a pump jack constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section taken approximately upon the plane of the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrow.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary perspective view of the fulcrum socket.
Fig. lis a perspective view of the linlt connector between the rocking frame, and the reciprocatory pump rod.
Referring now to the drawings by reference numerals, it will be observed that the reference numeral 5 designates the foundation or base, the numeral 6 the well casing, 7 the reciprocatory pump rod, 8 the horizontal longitudinally movable power rod, 9 the adjustable support, and 10 the roekably mounted frame.
The foundation 5 is of any suitable construction, as is the well and its pump rod. The support comprises downwardly diverging supporting elements. For instance, there'is a pair of legs 11 connected at their lower ends to the foundation, and connected at their upper ends to a connecting bolt 12.
Then. there is a pair of front legs. Each front leg comprises an upper section 13 with which a lower section 14- is telescopically connected. The lower sections 14 are in turn bolted, or otherwise rigidly fastened to the well casing. The upper sections are rigidly connected to the aforesaid bolt 12.
Mounted upon the central portion of this boltis an ad ustabIe supporting lever memher 15 having a T-shaped head 16 at its bottom engaging an abutment block 17 in the vicinity of the well casing. This lever 15 is inclined and rockably rnountedupon the central portion of the bolt 12, and the upper end portion thereof is offset in a vertical manner as at 18 and provided with an integral fulcrum socket 19.
The frame 10 is of general triangular form and comprises ,a, top member in the form of an Ill-beam 20 carrying a depending arm portion 21 at one'end. The power rod 8 is pivotally connected to the lower end of the arm 21.
At the opposite end of thel'ebeam is a removable clamp 22 with which an elongated. connector link 23 is rockably connected. This link 23 has an ofiiset eye 2a embracing the pump rod 7 and engaging an adjustable stop collar 25, on the pump rod. This provides the desired flexibility of connection between the rocking frame and the pump rod.
. The frame also embodies a diagonal brace 26,,c0nnected at its upper end to the beam 20 and at its lower end to the arm 21. litemovably' bolted on the left hand end portion of the l-beam, we find upper and lower plates 26 and 27 respectively, the lower plate being provided with an integral depending part .28 having a rounded fulcrum head 29 resting rockably in the socket 19.
I desire to emphasize the adaptability of the structure which permits the frame to be disposed either up or down by reversing the position of the fulcrum members, whereby to permit an under-pull of the power supply means or an over-pull.
These and other advantages and features of the invention have doubtless been made apparent by the, foregoing description and drawings. Consequently, a more lengthy description is regarded unnecessary.
Minor changes in shape, size, and rearrangement of parts coming within the field of invention claimed may be resorted to it desired.
Having thus described my invention, what ll claim as new is 1. In a pump jack of the class described, a. base, a support including front and rear supporting legs disposed in downwardly di verging relationship, a fulcrum and connection bolt rigidly connected with the upper ends of said legs, a supporting lever member mounted on the central portion of said bolt and including a T-shaped head at its bottom adapted to bear upon said base and including a vertically otlset part at its upper end provided with a socket, a trams including a fulcrum member rockably mounted in said socket, means for affording an operating connection between the frame and a pump rod, and means for transmitting motion to said ,frame.
2. In a pump jack of the class described, a base, a support including front and rear supporting legs disposed in downwardly diverging relationship, a pivot and connection bolt connected with the upper ends of said' legs, a lever rockably mounted on the central portion of said bolt and including a T- shaped head at its bottom adapted to bear
