This invention relates to books, and its general object is to provide a paper file primarily designed to receive and detachably secure together between covers, comic papers and the like in a neat and compact manner, whereby they can be retained for future use.

A further object of the invention is to provide a paper file for comic papers and the like that is adapted to receive one or more papers and the like and to be inserted therein at intervals, so that the papers can be added from time to time in an easy and expeditious manner and securely retained together.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.

In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:

Figure 1 is a top plan view of the paper file which forms the subject matter of the present invention.

Figure 2 is a sectional view taken through my file and showing the same open and method of securing papers therein.

Figure 3 is a fragmentary perspective view showing the file in closed position.

Referring to the drawings in detail thereference numerals 1 and 2 indicate the covers of my file, and these covers may be formed from card board, wood board, paper board, leather or other well known material and finished in any well known manner, depending of course upon the quality and kind of the file desired.

The covers 1 and 2 are similar in construction, and are provided with a plurality of parallel equidistantly spaced openings 3 disposed adjacent one of their side edges as clearly shown in Figure 1 of the drawings, and these openings 3 are adapted to receive in laced formation, a flexible element 4 which of course may be laced in any desired manner and also for arranging the covers at any desired distance apart. Each end of the, flexible element is provided with a tip 5 formed of metal or the like and the end portions which are indicated for distinction by the reference numerals 6 and 7 are adapted 1927. to be secured together as at 8 with the end portion 6 terminating where secured, while the opposite end port-ion is free and extended to be received between the folds of the paper A as shown in Figures 2 and 3 of the drawings, then looped about the end laced portlon 9, and secured by a slip knot or any other Well known knot to the said laced portion 9 as best shown in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings. The papers are formed with openings 10 arranged in the crease of the fold thereof and beyond their center, and flexible elements 11 and 12 are looped through these openings and about laced portions of the flexible element 4 as wellas about the said free portion to hold the latter 1n operative position. These flexible elements 11 and 12 have their respective end portions tied togetheras at 13 and 14: and about the end portion 7 of the flexible element 4, so as to retain said portion 7 in close association with the papers and therefore prevent displacement thereof as will be apparent.

From the above description and disclosure of the drawings, it will be obvious that I have provided a paper file which is primarily designed to receive comic papers and the like generally issued with newspapers, and the comic papers and the like may be added to the file and between the covers 1 and 2 thereof from time to time in an easy and expeditious manner, as all that is necessary is to form the openings 10 in the papers, untie the flexible elements 11 and 12, and the end portion 7 insert the paper or papers in superposed relation with respect to each other upon the covers as suggested in Figure 2 of the drawings and secure said papers between the covers in the manner as above described.

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.

I desire it to be understood that I may make .ohanges in the'construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
