METAL BUCK AND TRIM.

My invention relates to buildings, and particularly to novel means for framing door openings.
An object of the invention is to provide a construction, including a metal buck, that will insure rigidity and absence of distortion due to shrinkage and warping, together with combination plaster terminal and moulding adapted for collaboration with a wood jamb. In numerous forms of metal frames heretofore suggested, a metal amb and stop are included with the buck and trim. This, while desirable for many reasons, limits the builders in the manner of mounting the door; in other words, the door must be mounted exactly according to the design of the metal n'iembers, and cannot be changed from left to right, or from inside to outside, which changes are sometimes highly desirable. In the adaptation here described, these limitations are not present, and many, if not all, of the advantages of a complete metal frame are found in the design.
The invention, therefore, may be more readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a sectional view through a wall and associated framing constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a view partly in vertical section and partly in elevation, showing the construction of Figure 1 and Figure 3 is a sectional View through a slightly modified construction.
Referring particularly to Figures 1 and 2, I have illustrated a tile wall 10, plaster 11 and a base board 11 or marble sheathing, as may be desired.
The rough buck consists of a channel shaped section of metal having a web 12 and flanges 13. At intervals in the length of the web, ears or wings 14 are struck out and proj ected rearwardly in parallelism with the r I flanges 13. These wings act .as so-called tilelugs and serve to position the buck relative to the tile wall. A T head anchor 15 engages a slot 16 in the web and serves to hold the buck securely against the wall.
Wood blocks 17 are provided at intervals in the length of the channel and are held in place by means of nails. The blocks and the jamb 18 which is also composed of wood and securely joined by nailing.

In the construction shown in Figure 3 the channel buck with its lugs remain the same but the moulding and plaster terminal elements are somewhat different in that the terminal flange 24: overlies the face of the wood blocks and is nailed there as shown. This construction insures perfect rigidity as there is no free edge as in the construction heretofore described. This necessitates, however, that the moulding members be welded to the channel after the wood blocks are placed in position; otherwise the construction is identical with that heretofore described.
Obviously other modifications may be made without departure from the spirit of my invention as set forth in the appended claims.
I claim:
1. In building construction the combination with a channel shaped metal buck, of wood blocks secured at intervals in said channel, a wood jamb secured to said blocks, means on said buck for positioning said buck relative to an adjacent contacting wall, and a metal. moulding strip, said moulding strip comprising a margin welded to said buck, a plaster defining and terminal portion, a moulding portion and an outside margin adapted to cover the joint between the jamb and the blocks.
2. In building construction the combination with a channel shaped metal buck, of wood blocks secured at intervals in said channel, a wood jamb secured to said blocks, means on said buck for positioning said buck relative to an adjacent contacting wall, and a metal moulding strip, said moulding strip comprising a margin welded to a web of the channel, a plaster defining and terminal portion, a moulding portion and an outside margin adapted to cover the joint between the j amb and the blocks.
3. In building construction the combination with a channel shaped metal buck, of

5. In building construction the combination with a channel shaped metal buck, of wood blocks secured at intervals in said channel, a wood jamb secured to said blocks, means on said buck for positioning said buck relative to a contacting wall, means co-operating with said metal buck for securing said buck to the wall and a moulding and plaster terminal stripwelded to said buck, the forward n'iargin of the strip overlying and covering the joint between the jamb and the wood blocks.
6. In building construction the combination with a channel shaped metal buck, of wood blocks secured at intervals in said channel, a wood and) secured to said blocks, means co-operating with said metal buck for securing said buck to an adjacent contacting wall and a continuous metal strip secured to the web of the channel and bent to provide a plaster terminal and ground and also shaped for decoration and positioned to overlie the joint between the amb and the blocks.
