STORE ARRANGEMENT AND FIXTURE.
Application filed January 8,1927. .Serial No. 159,876.
The invention relates to store arrangements and shelving, and has for its object to provide the shelving with hinged closures having chambers and in which closures fiat members are detachably supported and provided with shelving on which goods may be placed for display and vending purposes.
The shelving proper may be used for storage of bulk goods if desired, and the flat memin hers with the shelving may be removed from the chambers of the hinged closures for arranging goods thereon, for instance in the back of the store.
A further object is to provide the fiat members with removable cabinets in which special goods may be displayed for vending purposes, and by forming the cabinets removable when goods are not on display, said cabinets may be removed if desired.
A further object is to form the shelving with V-shaped projections, to the opposite sides of which projections the chambered closures are hingedly connected, thereby allowing the closures to be opened in positions between the projections where they will not take up excessive floor space and will not be in the way. The shelving arrangement allows all floor counters and tables to be eliminated, thereby allowing unobstructed movement of customers within the store.
A further object is to provide window displays comprising rotatable stands having shelving and chambered closures similar to the closures of the side shelving.
A further object is to provide shelving adjacent the innerand rear walls of the room, and display stands adjacent the right angularly disposed windows of the room.
WVith the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawing, described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a horizontal sectional view through the store, showing the shelving arrangement.
Figure 2 is a view in elevation of the shelving at one side of the store.
Figure 3 is a plan view of a modified form of shelving, showing the same with compound curves.
Figure 4 is a plan view of another form of shelvingwherein the projections are rectangular shaped.
Figure 5 is a collective'perspective view of one of the chambered closures and the parts to be assembled therein.
Figure 6 is a vertical transverse sectional view through one of the window display devices.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a store and 2 entrances thereto. Disposed within the store at, one side thereof is a plurality of horizontally disposed shelves 3, which-shelves are provided with l-shaped projections 4;, and which projections extend outwardly, preferably at the side and rear end of the store and on which shelves the main stock is placed. Hingedly connected at 5 between the projections t are chambered closures 6, which may be pro vided with glass closures if desired, and which closures when opened move in they direction ofthe arrows at shown in Figure 1, and into the spaces between the projections, thereby allowing access to the shelves and to the goods thereon. Disposed within the chambers 7 of the hinged closures 6 are removable boards 8, which may be formed from any material, and which boards are provided with hooks 9, whereby they may be supported within the chambers 7 by passing the hooks 9 through the apertures 10. It is to be understood that any other supporting means may be provided. Member 8 is provided with shelves 11 which may be arranged in any suitable manner, and on which shelves goods is displayed for vending purposes, and by forming the members 8 with means whereby they may be detached and removed from the closures, it is obvious the goods may be easily and quickly placed on the shelves and the members 8 may be carried into the rear of the store for arranging goods thereon and then placed in the closures. For displaying special articles the members 8 are provided with removable cabinets 12, in which the specially displayed goods is placed. Cabinets 12 may,
be provided with closures 13 if desired, which closures are of conventional'form and have transparent fronts and cabinets at their upper ends are provided with hooked memthe cabinets to be removed for arranging the special displays and if desired to be entirely removed when there are no goods on special display, but the use of these parts may vary as desired.
Disposed within the display windows 16 are rotatable stands 17 which stands are provided with downwardly extending shafts 18, which are rotatably mounted and antifrictionally supported at 19, whereby they may be rotated as desired. Stands 17 are provided with a plurality of shelves 20 on which goods may be placed and provided with hinged closures 6, which are the same as the closures used for the side shelving, consequently the same numerals apply thereto, and as board 8 similar to the boards in the side closures are used similar numerals apply thereto, and the use and operation of the parts is the same as for the side and rear shelving;
From the above it will be seen that a I store arrangement is" provided whereby the special display may be displayed on the closures when so desired, and the special display goods assembled and arranged in the rear of the room and the cabinets placed in position.
The invention having been set forth what is clalmed as new and useful 1s 1. The combination with a hinged store cabinet closure having a chamber 'in the outer side thereof and said outer side open, of a display rack disposed in said chamber in engagement with the inner side thereof, outwardly extending shelves carried by said rack, hooks carried by the upper end of said display rack and extending through spaced apertures in the inner side of the cabinet closure, an auxiliary cabinet detachably connected to the display rack adjacent its lower end, said shelves and auxiliary cabinet terminating in the plane of the outer side of the closure.
2. The combination with a store cabinet closure having a, chamber in the outer face thereof and said outer face open, of a display rack disposed in said chamber, said display rack comprising a vertically disposed flat member of substantially the same width as the inner side of the chamber and slightly shorter than the height of the inner side of the chamber, hooks carried by said flat member and adapted to be re ceived in spaced apertures in the inner side of the closure, said hooks and apertures being positioned whereby when the flat member is in engagement with the lower side of the chamber, the hooks will be in interengagement with the rear side of the cabinet through the aperture.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature.
ADOLPH C. lVOERFEL.
