PLATE-GLASS HOLDER.
Application filed May-26 This invention relates to neans adapted to be used for the purpose of holding or retaining panels or plates of glass in place on the top of and along the marginal edges of a service or display counter of the kind used in place on the top of and along the marginal edge or edges of a counter of the character mentioned, at a minimum of cost.
A further'object of the invention is the provision of a set 01 holders which are so constructed that they may be readily attached to an upstanding marginal rim, flange, strip or the like on the top of a counter, to receive marginal edges of plates of glass, which are dropped orv slid into. place to be retained by the holders, assembled as may be desired, all around the marginal edgeof the counter, or at'the front, or at the sides, or atboth front and sides, or at the corner or corners only.
The nature of the invention and its distinguishing features and advantages will appear when the following specification is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which I v V Figure 1 is a plan view of a counter equipped with an assemblage of panels or plates of glass held in place by holderscon- -structedin accordance with the invention.

In accordance wit-hanother feature of the invention, use is made of a suitable number or set of holders among which are corner holders 141, intermediate holders l5, and left and right hand end holders 16. One of the corner holders 14 is shown most clearly in Fig. 30f the drawing, and consists of an upper panel margin receiving section or portion 17, and a lowerattaching-section, portion or end 18. The section or portion 17 is substantially L-shapcd in general cross sec tion, and hasrccciv-in-g channels 19 disposed at a right angle with respect to each other, or in other words, perpendicular to each other. Each channel 19 opens throughthe upper and-lower ends of the section or portion 17. In the presentinstance' the section or portion 17 isof hollow construction in that the channels 19 are connected by blocks 20 which form stops. The section or portion 17 out, if desired. Each channel 19 presents an portion orend 18-is L-shaped'in cross section and formed coincidental with the inner flanges 21. The said portion or end 18 is providedwith one or more holes, a single hole 23 being provided in the present instance for the accommodation of a suitable fastening element suchas a screw- The portion or end 18 is adaptedto be positioned in the entrance angle between thestrips 13 at one corner of the top 11 of the counter, and is secured by one or more fastening elements, oneof which is indicated in dotted lines in Fig.2, indicatedat 24:, to the adjacent strip or strips. 18. Thus the holder 14 will be vertically disposed, with the channels '19 disposed in'the plane of the related strips 13. The upper section or portion 25 may be l-l-shaped in cross section throughout, or may be of hollow construction as shown in the present instance. The section or portion 25 has receiving channels 27 respectively at op-i posit e sides. Each channel 2"? presents inner flanges 28, and outer :llanges 29. The portion or end 26 is brought against the inside ice of one'of the strips 13,'the front strip, in the present instance, and is secured thereto by the screws. Thus the holder 15 is secured in place vertically disposed with the channels 27 in the plane of the related strip 13 over the upper surface thereof with the lower edge of the outer l'langes 29 in. contact with said upper surface.
Each end holder 16 consists of an upper,
panel margin receiving section or portion 32 and a. lower attaching portion or end 33. The upper section or portion 321s of U-shapc in cross section throughout which presents a channel 34 consisting of an inner flange 35, an outer-flange 36, and a connecting web 37' which constitutes a stop. The portion or end 33 is formed coincidental, with the inner,
flange 35 and is provided with holes 38 which accommodate screws. The holder 16 shown in Fig. 5 is of left hand construction, and it is to be understood that end holders of right hand construction will also be provided. The lower portion orend 38 of the end holder 16 will be positioned against the inner faceof the related strip 13, and will be secured there to by screws respectively received by the holes 38. Thus the holder 15 will be vertically disposed with the channel 34 in the plane ofthe related strip '13 above the upper surface thereof with the lower edge of the outer flange 36 in contact with the upper surface of therelated strip 13.
W hen it is desired to use my invention in connection with c an internal angle of the marginal molding in case of L-shaped counters, the end holders, right and left, will be employed, and they are juxtaposed to form a continuation of the panels the l -shaped counters, and to accomplish this result, they occupy the position a] shown in Figure 5, in other words, the panels will therefore be continuous along the molding of the entire outside and inside of the counter.
