Abstract

A display fixture having open display areas on all sides is disclosed. A top wall and an intermediate wall are provided with transparent inserts. The space above and below an intermediate horizontal wall is divided into open display compartments by means of a plurality of mutually perpendicular vertical transparent partitions, some of which may be movable.

M/LLER ATTORNEYS PATENTEUFEBZUIQB SHEET 30P 4 l l r f l f i l l ATTORNEYS DISPLAY FIXTURE This invention is directed to a display fixture, and more particularly, to a display fixture for displaying flat textile products such as towels and sheets. The fixture is a multistory fixture. The top end and intermediate horizontal wall are both provided with transparent inserts.

The space above and below the horizontal intermediate wall is provided with a plurality of mutually perpendicular transparent vertical partitions which cooperate to define open-compartments for displaying products on all sides of the fixture. Some of the partitions are slidably disposed to increase or decrease the size of the compartments as desired in one of the embodiments of the invention.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a novel display fixture for displaying products on the floor of a store.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a novel display fixture which is simple, inexpensive, and constructed so as to provide maximum visibility of the products being displayed.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a display fixture which presents a feeling of airiness and facilitates observing products displayed for sale from all sides of the fixture.

Other objects will appear hereinafter.

For the purpose of illustrating the invention, there are shown in the drawings forms which are presently preferred; it being understood, however, that this invention is not limited to the precise arrangements and instrumentalities shown.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of one embodiment of the fixture of the present invention.

FIG. 2 is a sectional view taken along line 2-2 in FIG. 1.

Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein like numerals indicate like elements, there is shown in FIG. 1 a display fixture in accordance with the present invention designated generally as 10.

The fixture 10 includes a rectangular base 12 provided with a plurality of adjustable levelers 14. The fixture includes a horizontally disposed bottom wall 16 supported on the base l2 and extending beyond the periphery of base l2. An upright side wall 18 is supported by the bottom wall 16 on all sides of the fixture but spaced inwardly from the periphery of the bottom wall 16 in line with the configuration of the base l2.

An upright outer wall or superstructure 20 is supported by the bottom wall 16 at its periphery. The superstructure 20 is horizontally interconnected with the side wall 18.

Braces 22, 24, 26, and 28 are provided around the upper edge of wall 18 and are supported thereby. The

braces extend outwardly to the outer peripheral surface of the superstructure 20 and are provided with slots for receiving identification tags containing price informay tion.

Vertical columns

30, 32, 34 and 36 are provided.

One column is located in each comer of the fixture. A

top wall 38 having a plurality of transparent plastic in' serts 48 is provided. The periphery of the top wall 38 is supported by

40, 42, 44 and 46 which in turn are interconnected with the columns 30-36.

A horizontal intermediate wall 50 is provided below the top wall 38. The intermediate wall 50 is provided with transparent plastic inserts 52 as shown more clearly in FIG. 2. The periphery of wall 50 is supported by

braces

54, 56, 58 and 60 which in turn are corinected to the columns 30-36.

As shown more clearly in FIGS. 2 and 3, a partition wall S3 is supported by the intermediate wall 50 and extends upwardly to the top wall 38. On one side of the partition wall 53, the bottom surface of the top wall 38 supports a pair of

parallel tracks

64 and 66. See FIG. 3. A plurality of spaced parallel partitions are supported from the

tracks

64 and 66 so as to extend generally perpendicular to the length of the tracks. Each of the partitions which are suspended from the

tracks

64 and 66 are framed transparent panels 68. The panels 68 are manually adjustable as to their position along the tracks to enlarge or decrease the space between adjacent panels 68. As will be apparent from FIGS. 3 and 4, the panels 68 do not touch the intermediate wall 50.

On the other side of the partition wall 53, a similar pair of tracks 70 is provided. Framed transparent panels 72 are suspended from the tracks 70 and are parallel to the panels 68 for accomplishing a similar purpose.

As shown more clearly in FIG. 3, partition wall 62 is supported by the bottom wall 60 and extends upwardly to the intermediate wall 50. On one side of the partition wall 62, the lower surface of wall 50 is provided with a pair of

parallel tracks

74 and 76. A plurality of framed transparent panels 78 are suspended from the

tracks

74 and 76 and may be manually moved to any position along the tracks to enlarge or decrease the distance between adjacent panels. As shown more clearly in FIGS. 3 and 4, the panels 78 are narrower at the bottom so that their upper portion partially projects over the brace 22. Thus, it will be noted that track 76 lies outside the perimeter of wall 18.

On the other side of the partition wall 62, the bottom surface of wall 50 supports a pair of parallel tracks 80 from which depend a plurality of framed transparent panels 82. Panels 82 are parallel to panels 78 and are adapted to be manually moved to any position along the length of the tracks to increase or decrease the space between adjacent panels.

In FIGS. 5-8, there is illustrated another embodiment of the present invention designated generally as 90. The fixture is identical with the fixture l0 except as will be made clear hereinafter. The fixture 90 includes a rectangular base 92 having levelers 94 and superstructure 95 on its outer periphery as shown more clearly in FIGS. 5 and 7. A bottom wall 96 is atleast partially supported by the base 92 and extends beyond the periphery thereof. The wall 96 is also partially supported by a center column 97 which is rectangular in configuration.

A top wall 106 is supported in part by the center column 97 and in part by the

columns

98, 100, 102 and 104. The top wall 106 is provided with transparent inserts 108 which are identical with the plastic inserts 48. A transparent wall panel 1 10, made from a transparent plastic, extends between the

columns

98 and 100. A comparable transparent wall panel 112 extends between the

columns

102 and 104. See FIG. 6. Hence, access to the space immediately below the top wall 106 and above the intermediate wall 114 may be had only from the opposite ends of the fixture occurring at the top and bottom in FIG. 3.

The intermediate wall 114 is provided with transparent plastic inserts corresponding to the insert 52. The space between the

The partitions 116-122 are supported at their ends by columns connected to the top wall 106 and intermediate wall 1 14 by screws. The columns for said partitions as well as the columns 98-104 are of the type shown in FIG. 8 wherein the column 98 is channelshaped so as to receive the transparent wall panel 110 and is provided at its upper and lower end with a flange having a hole through which a screw may extend.

The intermediate wall 104 is partially supported by four

columns

124, 126, 130 and a fourth column which is not shown but is disposed directly below column 102. These columns are identical with column 98. A transparent wall panel 132 extends between columns 124 and 126. A similar transparent4 wall panel 134 extends parallel thereto from column 130 to the column not shown but disposed beneath column 102. The space between bottom wall 96 and the intermediate wall 104 is divided into four compartments by means of mutually perpendicular partitions 136, thereby dividing the space in the saine manner as the space above the intermediate wall 104 divided by the partitions 1 16-122.

The brace 138 at opposite ends of the fixture 90 is provided with slots for receiving an identification tag 140 containing identification and price information with respect to the merchandise to be introduced into the space immediately thereabove. The brace 144 on opposite ends of the intermediate wall 114 is likewise provided with an identification tag 142 related to the merchandise supported thereabove.

vThe upper brace 146 at opposite ends of the` top wall 106 is provided with identification tags 148 related to the merchandise to be supported immediately thereabove.

A divider 150 divides the top wall 106 into four quadrants for displaying merchandise. The divider 150 comprises four tapered panels 152 from a transparent plastic material. Each panel 152 is embraced at its upper edge by means of a channel member 154. Each channel member 154 is U-shaped in cross section and embraces the upper edge portion of the panels 152. The lower edge of the panels 152 is received in notches on thevtop wall 106. See FIG. 7.

ln the same manner as disclosed above in connection with fixture 10, the brace 146 is notched to receive the periphery of wail 106, brace 144 is notched to receive the periphery of wall 1 14, and the brace 138 is notched to receive the peripher of bottom wall 196.

Thus, it will be seen that we have disclosed display fixtures which accomplish the objects of the invention and have the aforesaid advantages.

The present invention may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or essential attributes thereof and, accordingly, reference should be made to the appended claims, rather than to the foregoing specification as indicating the scope of the invention.

We claim:

1. A display fixture comprising a base, a rectangular frame on said base, said frame including an intermediate horizontal wall between a top wall and a bottom wall, a column extending between the intermediate top walls at each corner thereof, a plurality of mutually perpendicular vertical partitions between said walls, said partitions cooperating with said walls to define open display areas on all sides of the frame for products, said partitions being transparent, and transparent inserts in said top wall.

2. A fixture in accordance with claim 1 including transparent inserts in said intermediate wall.

3. A fixture in accordance with claim 1 including means suspending some of said partitions for from above movement in a direction generally perpendicular to the plane of the partitions so that the size of the compartment defined by two such adjacent partitions may be enlarged or decreased by movement of the partitions.

4. A fixture in accordance with claim 3 wherein said movable partitions are suspended from tracks on the bottom surface of the top wall and the intermediate wall.

5. A fixture in accordance with claim 1 including a centrally disposed center column connected to said walls.

6. A display fixture in accordance with claim 1 including a divider on the upper surface of the top wall, said divider including transparent panels defining the upper surface of said top wall into quadrants.

7. A display fixture comprising a base, a bottom wall supported by said base and extending beyond the periphery of said base, said base including floor levelers, an intermediate wall supported above said bottom wall and being of the same configuration and size, a top wall supported above the intermediate wall being of the same configuration and size, a vertical column adjacent each comer of the intermediate wall and extending upwardly to the top wall, a top brace notched to receive the periphery of the top wall, an intermediate brace notched to receive the periphery of the intermediate wall, the bottom brace notched to receive the periphery of the bottom wall, said top wall and intermediate wall having transparent plastic inserts, a plurality of mutually perpendicular transparent plastic partitions between said walls, said partitions cooperating with said walls to define display areas for products, on opposite sides of the frame and the vertical edges of said partitions being received within a channel member.

8. A xture in accordance with claim 7 wherein the partitions between the bottom and intermediate wall are suspended from tracks for movement along the l0. A fixture in accordance with claim 7 including transparent wall panels extending across opposite sides of said walls adjacent the periphery of said walls.

11. A display fixture in accordance with claim 3 wherein some of said mutually perpendicular panels are suspended from the intermediate wall, and some of said mutually perpendicular panels being suspended from the top wall.

Claims

7. A display fixture comprising a base, a bottom wall supported by said base and extending beyond the periphery of said base, said base including floor levelers, an intermediate wall supported above said bottom wall and being of the same configuration and size, a top wall supported above the intermediate wall being of the same configuration and size, a vertical column adjacent each corner of the intermediate wall and extending upwardly to the top wall, a top brace notched to receive the periphery of the top wall, an intermediate brace notched to receive the periphery of the intermediate wall, the bottom brace notched to receive the periphery of the bottom wall, said top wall and intermediate wall having transparent plastic inserts, a plurality of mutually perpendicular transparent plastic partitions between said walls, said partitions cooperating with said walls to define display areas for products, on opposite sides of the frame and the vertical edges of said partitions being received within a channel member.

8. A fixture in accordance with claim 7 wherein the partitions between the bottom and intermediate wall are suspended from tracks for movement along the length of the tracks, and the transverse dimensions of the last-mentioned partitions being greater at the upper end of the partitions as compared with the lower end of said last-mentioned partitions, whereby the upper end of said last-mentioned partitions overlie a portion of the bottom wall brace.

9. A fixture in accordance with claim 7 including a centrally disposed center column connected to each of said bottom wall, intermediate wall and top wall.

10. A fixture in accordance with claim 7 including transparent wall panels extending across opposite sides of said walls adjacent the periphery of said walls.
