I accomplish the above objects and others which will be more readily understood when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein;

An upwardly extending plate or guide is arranged upon the partition 15 above each of the coin receiving compartments and has a slot in the top thereof to receive a coin inserted through a registering slot 31 in the closure or cover it), itbeing observed that the size of the slots correspond with the sizes of the coin to be inserted, namely, nickels, dimes, quarters or half dollars as the case may be. The closure or cover 20 is also provided with an observation opening 32 directly above each register whereby the number wheels thereof may be observed. Extending partially within the guides 30 of each register is one end of an angle lever which is pivoted as at 34, the opposite end of the. lever havi ng a small coil spring 35 connected thereto and to the actuating arm 36 which operates the register at the time when a coin is inserted into a respective one of the slots 3-1. It will thus be seen that when a coin is inserted into any one of the slots and engages against the end of the respective one of the angle levers, the said lever is rocked on its pivot against the resistance of the spring, and a pull will be exerted on the arm 36 thus moving the registering wheel of theregister one numeral space as the coin falls through the slot 31 and through the guide '30 into the respective compartment. The resistance of the spring 'and't-he movement of the angle lever 33 is such that an actuation of the arm 36 cannot take place unless the coin is forced entirely through the slot 31 and it will be readily seenthat the collector would not actuate the register ing mechanism of the coin registering devices unless the coin were actually deposited because otherwise, thew-inconsistency would appear between the amount of money deposited and the reading on the :coin record ingdevices. 7'

By reason of this construction, it will be readiiy seen that a careful and accurate check may hemade on the funds-deposited because one party may retain the ke 'to open the closure 18 for'the removal 0 the coin receptacle 9A and a second party may retain the key to gain access to the coin registering devices to reset the same after a given period.

\Vhile I have illustrated and described my invention with some degree of particularity, I realize that in practice various alterations therein may be made. I therefore reserve the right and privilege of changing the form of the details of construction or otherwise altering the arrangement of the correlated parts without departing from the spirit of the invention orthe scope of the appended claim.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure hv United States Letters Patent is A registering collection box comprising a casing'including side, rear, and bottom walls and having an opening in its front, a coin receptacle slidably remm'ably fitted within the casing upon the bottom thereof and between thcside walls and engaging against the inner side of the rear wall, the said.recept-aclehaving partitions therein dividing the same into compartments, a door hinged at'.the lower side of the open front of the casing, means for locking the door in closed position whereby to prevent access to the said coin receptacle, a partition within the casingabove the coin receptacle having slots positioned above respective ones of the compartments of the coin receptacle, a coin registering means upon the partition wall above each of the compartmentsand having a coin guide for registration with the respective slotin the partition wall, a closure for the top of the casing hingedly connected with a wall thereof, and means for locking the closure in closed position, the locking means being independent of the locking means for the first mentioned door, the said closure for the top of the casing having coin slots therein registering with the upper ends of the coin guides of the respective ones of the registering means.
