The object of the invention is to provide a novel means of suspending the flatiron, so as to relieve the'person ironing from the necessity of lifting the said iron.
Afurther object of the invention is to provide a suspended iron of novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of my improved device, partly in section so as to clearly show the construction involved.

Fig. 4 is a fragmentary sectional view taken on the line 1- 1 of Fig. 3.
In Fig. 1 of the accompanying drawing, I have shown a table 10,.supported by the legs 11, attached thereto, and extended downwardly therefrom. The top 10, is adapted to support the ironing board 12, which is held in a raised or upper extended position therefrom by the supporting members 13, the above described elements being those, such as commonly used for ironing or pressing. It should be understood that I do not necessarily limit the use of my invention to the particular type of ironing board and table as above described, but to all classes and types of ironing boards, and tables, such as generally used for the purpose of ironing or pressing.
As here embodied my improved device comprises a base member 14, secured to the upper side of the top of the table 10, by the threaded members 15, bolts, screws, or the like. The upright members 16 are secured to the base member 14, and are extended upwardly therefrom. The ring member 17 is secured to the upper extended extremities of the upright members 16. The upper upright members 18 are secured to the ring member 17 and are extended upwardly therefrom. The upper ring member 19 is secured to the upper extended extremitiesof the upper upright members 18.

The flexible member 30, preferably a chain, is attached to the free extremity of the extended portion 29. The tension spring 31 is attached to the lower extremity of the flexible member 30 and to the handle 32 of the flatiron The fiatiron 33 is of common construction, such as generally used for ironing or pressing clothes, and may be gas heated. The flexible tube cable, is attached to the flatiron 33 and to any suitable convenient source of gas su ply or electric current, not shown in tie accompanying drawing. The wire 35 is attached to the extended portion 29 of the arm 26, and is provided with a hook 36 at the lower extremity of the wire 35, and is adapted to engage the flexible tube 34, or electric cable, so as to hold the said flexible tube or cable so as to eliminate interference with the person using the said fiatiron.
The above described construction is such as will permit the extended portion 29 of the arm 26 to be pivotally supported by the supor electrically. 3 1 or electric porting member 22. It should be understood that the said extended portion 29 of the arm 26 is supported by the upper ring member 19, the hand wheel 23 being rotated, o-r turned, so as to secure the proper position of the said extended portion.
The yoke member 37, is pivotallyattached intermediate the extended portion 29 of the arm 26 as at 38, by a pin, or the like, so as to be capable of assuming slightly inclined positions relative to the portion 29, desirable when the portion 29 is tilted as shown in Fig. 3. It should be understood that when the arm 26 is vertical, the yoke member 37 is parallel to the arm, but when the arm 26 is inclined the yoke member 37 will 'not be truly parallel. The yoke member 37 is provided with a pointed lower extremity 39, adapted to engage in a circular recess 40 formed in the ring member 19. The above described construction is such as will permit the extended portion 29 of the arm 26 to be held in any desired upper angular extended position as designated by the reference numeral 41, or in any desired downwardly angularly extended position as shownin Fig. 3 of the. accompanying drawing. The said. angular positions are secured by rotating or turning the above mentioned hand wheel 23 for raising or lowering the spherical extremity 25, and thus tilting the arm 29 about the yoke. member 37.
