This invention relates to a mounting for panel boards, switch boards, and the like. More particularly it comprises a simplified form of mounting whereby the panel board may be adjusted to proper position flush with the casing or trim of the cabinet after such casing is in permanent position.
In many types of mountings for supporting a panel board in a housing or casing inserted in the wall of a building, no provision is made for adjusting the position of the same herein. An improved adjustable type of mounting formed the subject-matter of a. previous application by this applicant,
which has matured into Patent No. 1387357.
The present invention is an improvement over the type of mounting disclosed in the patent just referred to, inasmuch as the same is constructed of fewer parts and may be 29 adjusted after the casing or front trim is in position. To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, said invention, then, consists of the means hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims.
The annexed drawing and the following description set forth in detail certain structure embodying the invention, such disclosed means constituting, however, but one of vari- OO ous structural forms in which the principle of the invention may be used.

As in clearly shown in the drawing, the panel board 1 is held in proper relation to the casing or front trim 2 by means of stationary corner brackets 3. Said corner brackets may each be formed of a piece of sheet metal having an angle shaped upper portion 4- and outwardly turned feet 5 at its base. A slot 6 is provided centrally of the meeting line of the sides of the angle portion of the device, and each of the outwardly turned feet is provided with a large aperture 7 to-receive a fastening bolt 8, or other means whereby the same may be secured to a Wall 1924. or other point of support at right angles to the panel board. The inner marginal edges of the feet are joined together at their forward edges and form an extension base 9. projecting within the angle portion of said bracket. The bracket may be stamped out of a single piece of sheet metal, or may be otherwise fabricated as desired.

Said standard is of only about one-third the full h right of the bracket and is adapted to receive an internally threaded flanged collar 12. The upper edge of said collar is provided with notches 13 to permit the rotation of the same by means of a screw-driver, spanner 'rcnch, or other suitable instrun'ient. An opening 1 1- of slightly larger diameter than the diameter of said collar is provided through the base portion of the panel, or similar structure, adjacent each corner thereof. The panel board preferably is formed of slate or some similar insulating material and the openings therethrough will permitthe collars to be freely rotated therein. Each of the openings formed in the corner of the base portion of the panel may be countersunk on the under side so as toprovide a seat 15 for the flanged portion of said collar which underlies and supports said panel permitting positive adjustment up or down as the collar turned in one direction or the reverse about the fixed standard 11, carrying the panel with it. i
The threaded standard is of a heis it to permit a fair range of adjustmcnl or the panel board and the collar of somewha orien so as to provide means for gri .ter herding a locking sleeve 16 against the face of the base portion of the panel board. This locking sleeve is an annular ring of a size adapted to be held in locked position thereag'ainst by means of a short set-screw 1. adapted to be engaged with the screw threads within the upper end of the adjust able collar.
The structure thus far described provides for an adjustment of the base portion of the panel board through the turning of the adjustable collars at the respective corners thereof, as well as means for the locking of said device in its various positions of adjustment. In addition to this function of the brackets, they also serve as a support for the side members of the panel board and have means for locking said members thereto. This locking means in each sup port comprises a bolt 21 having a squared shank 22 adjacent its head of a size to slid ingly engage the slot in the angle portion of said bracket. An internally threaded locking collar 23 is provided for the threaded end of said belt, which is engaged through an aperture 24 formed centrally of an inner corner plate 25, the side edges 26 of which are adapted to be pressed tightly against the ends of the side pieces 27 of the panel board, holding them rigidly clamped against the respective internal faces of the angle shaped portion of the bracket. The upper end of said corner plate is provided with an extension flange 28, formed of approximately hexagonal outline and connected with the upper edge of said corner plate by a constricted neck portion 29. At said point of juncture with said plate itis bent outwardly so as to overlap the edges of said side pieces at. their points of meeting and to conceal the securing bolt and the space between the respective side pieces.
By means of this constructionthe collar pressing against the corner plate may be released at any time and said plate may be shifted and the side pieces removed if desired. If, however, it is not desired to remove the side pieces of the panel board but merely to adjust the-entire panel board relatively to the permanent front trim of the box within which the panel board is disposed, the collar pressing against said corner plate is released in each of the brackets, so as-to permit sliding movement of the bolt held thereby in the slotted portion of said bracket, the clamping sleeves pressing against the base portion of the )anel are then removed, and the adjustable collars upon each of the standards at the respective corners of the panel board are then turned to the requisite degree to bring the panel board structure into the proper position with respect to the casing or front trim of the housing for said panel board. \Vhen the proper degree of adjustment has been secured at each of the four corners of the panel board, the locking sleeves and set-screws for the bottom portion of said board are restored to securing position and the collars pressing against the curved corner plates are like wise returned to locking position.
It will be noted that the construction involves the use of comparatively few parts and that said parts are of very simple form and easily manufactured and assembled. The device is readily mounted in posit-ion and is at all times accessible so as to permit the adjustment of the panel board, irrespective of whether or not the permanent trim of the housing is in position. It also provides a ready means of disassembling the panel board while within the housing without disturbing the permanent trim thereof. In addition to the other advantages, the structure also provides for a finished appearance of the parts and holds the panel board in fixed adjustment when the securing devices are firmly seated in clamping position.
Other modes of applying the principle of my invention may be employed instead of the one explained, change being made as regards the structure herein disclosed, provided the means stated by any of the following claims or the equix alent of such stated means be employed. 2
I therefore particularly point out and distinctly claim as my invention 1. A panel board mounting comprising a corner bracket adapted to be secured to a fixed point of support and having an angle portion to engage the corner portion of a panel board extending at right angles thereto, and a panel moving standard and adjusting member supported in spaced relation to the angle portion of said corner bracket and extending through and co-acting with said panel board for positively moving and adjusting the same relative to said fixed point of support perpendicularly to the plane of the panel.
2. A panel board mounting comprising a corner bracket adapted to be secured to a fixed point of support and having an angle portion to engage the corner portion of a panel board extending at right angles thereto, a panel moving standard and adjusting member supported in spaced relation to the angle portion of said corner bracket and extending through and eo-acting with said panel board for positively moving and adjusting the same relative to said fixed point of support perpendicularly to the plane of the panel, and means for locking said adjusting means. 7
3. A panel board mounting comprising a corner bracket. adapted to be secured to a fixed point of support and having an angle portion to engage the corner portion of a panel board extending at right angles thereto, a panel moving standard and adjusting member supported in spaced relation to the angle portion of said corner bracket and extending through and co-acting with the bottom portion of said panel board for positively moving and adjusting the same relative to said fixed point of support perpendicularly to the plane of the panel, and means accessible from the inside of said panel board for locking said panel members to said bracket and for maintaining the same in fixed relation to the front portion of the casing within which said panel board is housed.
4. A panel board mounting comprising a. corner bracket adapted to be secured to a fixed point of support and having an angle portion to engage the corner portion of a panel board extending at right angles thereto, a panel moving standard and adjusting member supported in spaced relation to the angle portion of said corner bracket and extending through and co-acting with the bottom portion of said panel board for positively moving and adjusting the same relative to said fixed point of support perpendicularly to the plane of the panel, means for locking said adjusting means, and means accessible from the inside of said panel board for locking side panel members to said bracket and for maintaining the same in fixed relation to the front portion of the casing within which said panel board is housed.

A panel board mounting comprising a corner bracket adapted to be secured to a fixed point of support, an angle shaped portion on the free end of said bracket having a longitudinal slot, the side members of said tree end of said bracket being adapted to engage the corner edges of the panel board, an angle plate, means extending through said angle plate and slot in said bracket for securing the side pieces of said panel board to said bracket, a panel moving standard and adjusting member supported in spaced relation to the angle portion of said corner bracket and extending through and co-acting with the bottom portion of said panel board for positively moving and adjusting the same relative to said fixed point of support perpendicularly to the plane of the panel, and means accessible from the inside of said panel board for locking said adjusting means.
6. A panel board mounting comprising a corner bracket having a base plate adapted to be secured to a fixed point of support and provided with an angle shaped portion on the free end thereof, said angle portion being adapted to abut the corner portions of the panel board, a screw-threaded standard disposed within the angle of said bracket and nonrotatably secured at its lower end to the base plate of said bracket, means mounted on said standard projecting through the base portion of said panel board and co-acting therewith to move the same to any desired position of adjustment with respect to said fixed support perpendicular to the plane of the panel, means for locking said adjusting means, and means for adjustably securing the side pieces of said panel board to the bracket when the bottom portion thereof is locked in adjusted position.
