Description

M. HERMANCE.
Attorney Nv PETERS, FHOTO-LITHDGRAPMER. WASHINGTON. D G,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MARTIN HERMANOE, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN TACK-EXTRACTORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 171,129, dated December 14, 1875; application file April 13, 1875. v
new and useful Improvements in Tack-Extractors; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction of a concavo-convex metallic tool, converging to an edge at its outer end, and provided near each corner With suitable notches or slots for receiving the head of the tack, and drawing it from the floor.
In the annexed drawing, forming a part of these specifications, the figure represents a perspective view of the tool, in which- A represents the body of the tool, the outer end of which is made concave upon one side, and convex upon the other, the lower side being convex. The outer end is sharpened, and
provided near each corner with an opening or slot or notch, for the purpose of receiving the body of the tack to be drawn. When the tack is once inserted in the notch it is easily drawn from the floor by a slight rotary motion of the tool. The tool at the other end is provided with a suitable handle.
This tool may be cast or forged, and provided with a Wooden or cast handle, and is cheap and simple in its construction as Well as in its operation.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A metallic tool made convex on its under side, and concave on its upper side, converging to a square or straight edge, and provided with notches or slots near each corner of its edge, as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of March, 1875.
MARTIN HERMANGE.
