Description
April 23, 1929. L. J. PINGRY MATTRESS PROTECTOR Filed Sept. 30, 1925 WITNESS:
Patented Apr. 23, 1929.
UNITED STATES LOUISA JANE PINGRY,
MATTRESS Application led September rlhis invention relates to improvements in mattress protectors, the general object being' the suspending' of a length of fabric upon a bed spring in order that the lower side of the Vmattress when arranged upon a bed will be spaced from the spring in eliminating the possibility of the mattress being torn upon the spring and side edges of sheets when tucked under the mattress.
Another object of my invention resides in the provision of the cover per se and having iitted thereto a pluralityv of attaching clips secured Within the binding therefor whereby the spring frames may be engaged by thel clips to support the protector` thereupon.
Vith the above and other objects` in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawing Figure 1 is an elevation of my invention as applied.
Figure Q is a sectional view taken on line .f2-2 of Figure l, illustrating the construction of the cover and the manner in which the latter is attached to the spring frame.
Referring to the drawing in detail, Wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character l() indicates an endless bar forming the frame of a bed spring, not shown, being of the usual and Well known construction and forming no part of the present.application for Letters Patent but being merely shown for purposes of illustration in bringing forward the novel advantages of the above entitled invention.
The invention resides in the provision of a protector, as indicated at 11, having outer or bottom and top layers of bed ticking as indicated Aat 12 and an intermediate layer 0F TULSA, OKLAHOMA.
PROTECTUR.

of oil cloth 13, all of which having registering ventilating openings 1st therein and a binding strip secured in the usual manner to the edges thereof. Lengths of wire, as indicated at 16, have their upper end portions 17 intersecting as at 18 and fitted and secured beneath the binding strip 15 upon the upper side ot' the protector 11. The remaining portion ot' each length ot' wire being bent intermcdiately upon itself` to provide a resilient looped portion 19 adapted to extend around and beneath the frame 10 to support the cover l? thereupon.
It is to be noted that a plurality of these fastening means are secured to the opposite sides and ends of the protector 112 in securing the latter to the fraaie 1() and in providing the resilient support for' the mattress, not shown, irrespective of the springs, not showrn'litted Within the frame 10.
The inventionis susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction. and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention what is claimed isz- A mattress protector comprising a cover adapted to overlie a spring fraaie, a bindingr on the edge ot the cover having portions overlapping the margins of the cover and attached thereto at spaced oints. resilient clips having the upper ends t ereof disposed to intersect one another and extended beneath said overlapping portions, and resilient loop portions projected from the intersecting portions of the clip being disposed for engagement with the under sides of the spring frame to yieldingly sup ort the protector in position for use upon tiie frame and to insulate a mattress therefrom.
In testimony whereof I aix 1n signature.
