PEN-NIB-EJECTING MEANS.
Application filed. July 16, 1928, Serial No. 293,073, and in New zealand May 8, 1923.
This invention relates to improved means end E is preferably made with a shoulder e. 35
for use-in combination with an ordinary pen nib holder whereby the nib may be ejected from the holder in an easy manner and without any handling of the nib itself.
The means designed are of such a nature as to be adapted to engage the nib slot while the nib is in its holder and when the device has been slipped over the holder,so that when it is moved outward on the holder it will push the nib. with it. The said device may be allowed to remain on the holder when the pen is in use but may also be slipped on to it for the nib ejecting operation, whenever needed, if so desired.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the ejector.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of a pen, showing the ejector, in section, in position thereon ready to eject the pen nib.

I The ejector device comprises a sleeve A of such a diameter as to be capable of sliding on to the nib holder B of the pen, passing also over the nib C inserted insuch holder. Combined with this sleeve is a spring tongue 7 that is fastened to one end of the sleeve so that it extends for a distance in the longituginal line of the sleeve. This tongue is given a natural downward tension at its free end. Such free end also is bent downward and is flattened out as at E to adapt it to pass In the use of this ejector device, the sleeve is slid over the nib and on to the nib holder, the tongue D extending forwardly so that its bent down end E slides'over the nib top until it comes to the slot .F thereof. Then because of the inherent springiness of the tongue, the end E springs down into the slot, so that when the sleeve is pushed forwardly on the nib holder, the tongue end E engages the slot end and pushes the nib out of the holder; The shoulder e in this engag ment locks beneath the slot end to prevent any liability of the tongue springing out of the slot when pressure is placed upon the sleeve.
If desired, a finger grip G may be secured to the back end of the sleeve A to enable the sleeve to be actuated in sliding it upon the nib holder.
I claim 1..Pen nib ejecting means comprising a sleeve adapted to slide upon apen nib holder, and a spring tongue projecting from the for? ward end of such sleeve having its forward end'bent down and flattened to adapt it for passing into the pen nib slot, substantially as specified.
