AUGUST M. WESSMAN, OF HEBCULES, CALIFORNIA.
CAMEBA CASE.
Application filed January 9, 1928. Serial No. 245,474.
This invention relates to improvements in camera cases.
The priacipal object ot this invention s to provide means for withdrawing a film cartridge froni the carrying case.
A further object is to provide a device of the character which is light in weight and simple in Construction, and there'fore eco nomical to manufacture.
A still further object is to produce a device which will be applicable to the ordinary camera case without materially altering the construction of the same.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specication and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
F igure l is a perspective view of an ordinary camera case,
Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary vertical cross section of a camera case,
Figure 3 is an enlarged perspective view of my device and Figure 4 is a cross section taken on the line 4-4 ot' Figure 2 showing the entire cross section of the camera case.
In the average camera case there is no means provided for holding extra rolls of film therein. In the present invention, I have provided a unique pocket arrangement whcrcin the extra films may be stored and at the same time provide in the pocket mechanisin whereby the roll of film may be quickly extracted of use in the camera.
In the accompanying drawings wherein 'for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodinent of my invention, the numeral 5 designates a camera case as a whole and the numeral 6 the pocket formed on one side thereof. This pocket is tormed hy placing a partition 7 within the camera case. To this partition I attach a plate 8 having outwardly extending sides 9 and ll and carrying braces 12 and 13. Each of these braces have outward turned ends as shown at 14 and 16 respectively. These ends form means for riv-eting or otherwise securing my device within the pocket.
A slider 17 has its upper extremity slidably held to the plate 8 as by the brace 12. The lower end of this slider is turned outwardly so as to provide a pusher plate 18 to the under side of which is Secured one end of a spring 19. The opposite end of this spring s Secured to a bracket 21 riveted or otherwise attached to the plate 8.
shoulders 22 and 23 are formed upon the slider 17 so as to eliminate the upward movement of the slider. By viewing Figures 2 and l it will be noted that I have designated at 24 and 26 two film cartons which contain the ordinary rolls of film. The carton 26 is adapted to rest upon the pusher plate 18 while the` carton 24 rests on top of the carton 26. W'hen it is desircd to withdraw one of the cartons and its film from the pocket 6, the upper end of the slider 17 is grasped and pulled upwardly with the result that the pusher plate 18 in rising, pushes against the Ca -ton 26 and expels the carton 24.
It is obvious that if but one car-ton is contained within the pocket, further upward movement of the slider will serve to expel the carton resting upon the plate 18. The spring 19 serves to return the slider to its normal position while the shoulders 22 and 23 limit the upward movement of the slider thereby preventing the slider being entirely withdrawn and excess strain being placed upon the spring.
It will thus be seen that I have produced a device which will accomplish all of the objects above set forth.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that various changes relative to the material, size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim In a device of the character described, adapted to be attached to a camera case comprising a plate having' outwardly turned edges, a pair of spaced braces secured to said plate, said braces having outward extending ends, a slider movably Secured to said plate and having one end positioned between said plate andone ot' said braces, shoulders formed on said slider for limiting movement of said slider, a pusher plate extending outwardly from said slider, a spring having one end Secured to said pusher plate and havin its opposite end Secured to a bracket extening from said plate.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
AUGUST M. WESSMAN.
