Specification of LettersiPatent No. 17,057, dated April 14, 1857.

The nature of my invention consists in the mode of construct-ing the lock and clasp i of a porte-monnaie whereby is gained Iirst a lock for the same,V and second a means of firmly attaching the porte-monnaie while locked to a given object whether the clothing in the pocket or under clothing at the owners option.
Figure l, in the accompanying drawings represents a side view of a porte-monnaie locked and attached to the object E; Fig. 2 represents a porte-monnaie, unlocked, open, and the lock raised.
At the letter a is shown a pointed pin which is iirmly fastened to the lock which is marked B.
The part marked C represents an interior spring fastened to the clasp D with a small rivet at the end of such spring that passes through a hole in t-he clasp, and also through a hole in the lock at the numeral 2, by the act of locking the portemonnaie.
At F in Fig. l is represented a thumb piece by which the spring C is depressed and the porte-monnaie unlocked and also detached from the object E.
