cords of different widthsor sizes and also comprises laterally adjustable means for engaging a braid or cord already stitched to the work so as to guide the work parallel to said stitched braid or cord in stitching several rows of braids or cords, thus enabling the rows of braids or cords to be located at any desired distance apart, all as will hereinafter more fully appear.
In the accompanying drawing Fig. 1 is a plan View of the improved braider or corder. Tig. 2 is a side View of the same looking from the left of Fig. 1. Fi 3 is a front edge view of the same looking ttrom the bottom of 1. Fig. a is a detailplan view of the presser foot part of the attachment and its laterally;
supporting arm. Fig. 5 is a detail plan view of the adjustable guiding member for the braid or cord already stitched to the work.
Referring to the drawings, 12 denotes a sewing machine presser foot having a shank 18 by which it may be secured to the presser bar of a sewing machine and having a lateral arm 14 which supports the adjustable guiding members. Mounted on the arm 14 is a plate 15 extending laterally oi? the attachment and provided at its left end With a rcarwardly extending guide 16 herein shown being construt-lc. in the form of a trough comprising two depending lips 17. The plate 151's provided with a slot lll'through which pasrms the lower end or shank of a setscrew 19 and which slot also receives the body of a rivet 20 for steadying the said plate 15 in itsdi'h' i erent lateral positions of adjustment.
Overlying the plate 15 is a second plate 21 l'nwing a slot 22 vhich also receives the shank of the set screw 19 and the body of the rivet 20, thus providing for the lateral adjustment or the said plate 21. The plate 21 carries a down-turned guiding arm 23 which extends rearwardly parallel to the presser foot 12, said arm having a horizontally extending iinger 24-. The braid or cord to be attached to the work is guided in the space or passage be tween. the arm QSand the left hand edge of the presser foot and beneath the finger 24, this cord or braid passage between the said arm and presser toot being adjustable in widtlti, to accommodate braids or cords of diderent edge oi the presser ioot widths or sizes, by adjusting the plate 21 to different lateral positions; this adinstment being conveniently effected, when the set screw 19 is loosened, byincans of an upturned lug 25 at the left hand end oil thesaid late,
21. The position of the needle oftnemadhine is indicated by the not-ch26 in the right hand After the braid or. cord has been stitched to the work the latter willbe guided parallel to the said stitched braid or cord in stitchin second braid or cord to the work, by the dugagementwith the stitched braid or cord by w v i the trough-hire guide it; or, if desired, the
work may be guidedby positioning the work in such manner that the stitched braid or cord will occupy the space between the left hand edge of the presser foot and the right hand depending lip 17 of the guide 16.
From the foregoing it will be understood that the improvedjpresser foot braider or cordcr iormedby three sheet metal parts, so
that in manufacturing the attachments these parts may be cheaply made by stamping;
while the improved device, by the adjustments anorded by the slottedplates liand 21,w11l
accommodate different widths or sizes of braids or cords, and will also enable the latter to bestncned to the work at difierent dis tances apart; I y Having tans described our invention we claim and LiQSZFO to secure by L ":ters Patent t I k 1 .l. A sewing nrichine braids or corder z .2 I i aside lrom a setscrew mid rivet, sneet in ctal parts only, and comaoynnalne means for 'Fldliig the by a braid or cord already s edgand ror guiding braids or cords hs ors zes.

coi'nposeihaside from a set screw and rivet, oi three sheet metal parts only, and comprising a, presser foot having a laterally extend ng arm, a plate carrying a rearwardly enrendii braid or cord engaging guide adj nstab-ly mounted on said arm, and a second machine braider or corder screw and rivet,
3. A sewing machine braider or corder adjustable plate having a POZLIWMClly extend ing build 01 cord guiding member 11150 adjustably mounted on said arm.
4*. A sewing machine bi-aider oi Cordelcomprising a resser foot having a lat'ei z'illy' extending; mm, a plate carrying a fe'aiwvzi'rdly extending braid 01' 00rd engaging guide ad: justebly mounted on said iii-1n, and a second adjustable plate having a rearwardly extending braid or cord guiding member also adju'stgtbly mounted on said arm, said braid or gold guiding member being provided With a horizontally extending finger overlying the braid or cord passage. 1
In testimony whereof We aflix our signa- Cures.
