I attain these and other objects of my invention by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in Which,
Figure 1 is a perspectiveview of the inventionin use; 7
Fig. 2 is a top plan vievv of the invention;
Fig. 3 is a side elevation:,
l is a detail sectional. view online' Fig. 5 is a detail side elevation of another means for attaching the device to a fence post.

Referring; to the accompanying drawings, there is illustrated a conventional fence post 1 having the usual Wire strands 2 fined to them. I provide fence protector bracket 3 to support the barbed Wire strand 9. Menil r 3 consists of a stripof nietal bent at its central portion at an acute ans. or in other Words 7 in substantial v-sha iie, to form the two arms 5 and 6 which are iin'ovided with revcrscly ili posed slots '4' near their respective er howninhigJ-l. The ends are spaced apart so as to engage on opposite sides of a fence post as shown in Figs. 1 and I provide Wire rings or clips 8 which are en ga around the bent inetal portion l or me protector bracket 3.
As shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 the slotted ends of the arms 5 and 6 are engaged on Wire strands on opposite sides of thepost, thereby holding the bracket in extended position to support-the baroed Wire strand. The barbed wire strand is fastened to the bent middle portion of the fence protector bracket by fence port 1 o around the Wire fence strand 9 and then Wire clips 4 which are applied in any suitable manner, s1 h as by Wire pliers or ringing devices. if s desired to remove the barbed Wire strand this may be readily done by cut-v ting the ringsS which secure the barbed Wire strand to the bracket 3. The device is attached much more readily than With devices in this field heretofore invented.
VJ hat I claim is: r 'l. fence protector bracketfor supporting a barbed Wire strand in spaced relation to the of the fence, consisting of a single nie'i: l strip bent in substantially V-shape, said b acket having reversely positioned slots near the respective ends thereof to engage the wire of a fence, said brackets being spaced to ennage on opposite sides oft-he fence post,
a fence protector bracket for supporting a barbed Wire strand in spaced relation to the rest of the fence consisting of a single metal strip bent in substantially V-shape, said bracket having reversely positioned slots near the respective ends thereof to engage the Wire strands of a fence. i
In combination With a fence having a plura bracket in substantially \/-shape and having its ends adapted to be secured in a fixed rela tion to the Wire strands and fence post, a barbed Wire strand, and ire clips securing the barbed wire strand to the end of the fence protector bracket.
