My invention relates to an improvement in wheel removers, my general object being to provide a simple device which may be easily utilized to the screw-tin'oaded extremity of an axle s1 .udle and utilized to transmit sharp blows 1-0 the spindle without injury to the screw-threads, thereby jarring the wheel loose on the spindle.

Assumingthat that is the condition of the spindle extension with a wheel -W tightly wedged upon the spindle, I provide a simple device for jarrin the wheel. loose without injury, and in so doing correct the previous injury to the screw-thread. This device comprising a cylindrical body 4- hos a relatively long axial bore 5 in its outer end, a central chamber 6, and a screw-threadcd opening 7 in its inner end. The n'iouth 8 of opening 7 is of flaring shape and this end of body l is slotted at 2L number of places tangentially in respect to the inner c'rcle doe fined by the lands of the screw-threads oi opening 7. The slots provide a series of sharp cutting edges 10 at the beginning of the screw-thread in'the flaring mouth or en rance 8 which. permits easy attachment of cylinder 4; to extension 3 regardless of a .mutilsted screw-thread thereon. So connected cylinder 4 provides a tubular extension for the spindle adapted to support-and guide a loose plunger.

Thus when the device is afiixed to the spindle as explained, plungerll is supported in :1 floating position axially opposite the end of theaxle spindle and the operator is enabled to strike the 6X- posed cap i l on the plunger withoutdanger of inutileting or stripping the screw-threads. 'lhus with the present device it is not necessary for the operator to exercise caution in attaching the cylinder to the spindle as it may he screwed only part way and still serve to hold and guide'tho plunger properly.
