In the drz'nvings my stropper A is formed in a manner to provide a very compact case B which is formed wit-h an upper case member 10 and a lower case member 11 which are hingedly connected together at 12.

The case B of my stropper A is designed to provide means for receiving a razor blade, either of the double or single edge type, and the stropper is designed to hold the razor blade when not desired for use within the stropper case B. The stropping strap C is connected to the case by passing through the slot 13 in the flange 1% formed on the free end of the cover member 10 and beneath the trans verse rib member 15 extending across the top portion 10 adjacent the flange 1 1. This rib member is provided to hold the stropping strap in close proximity to the blade within the stropping case B. The strap then extends about the tubular member 16 which is positioned on the pin 1'? and holds the case members 10 and 11 pivotally' connected together at 12. The strap then extends from the member 16 along the inside of the bottom case member 11 and over the rib 18 and out through the slot 19 formed in the upwardly PlO'JGCtlIlg flange 20 formed on the tree end of the bottom member 11 of the case B. hen the case B is in closed position the flanges l and 20 meet so as to form a closure along the free end of the case members and throughwhich the strap C passes. y

A pair or side arms 25 are pivotalhx sup ported through the opening 26 to atta -h the same at the pivot point 12 on one end, while the other end formed with an offset end portion 27 :trom which the portion 28 extends approximately at right angles to the portion 2?, and from the port-ion 28 the portion 29 is bent to extend approximately at right angles to the port-ion 28. Thus the portions 27 and 29 are extended approximately parallel to each other, thereby providing an offset supporting bracket arm on the free end of the arm 25.

There are two arms 25 in my strop A, one being positioned on each side of the case B, as illustrated in Figure 1 of the drawings and in Figure 8. The portion 29 is adapted to extend through the slots 30 formed in the cover 10 of the case B and by means of the lug 31 the portion 29 engages beneatlrtlie inside of the cover 10, as illustrated in Figure 4. Thus the lugs 31 form an engagement with the inside of. the cover 10 to hold the free end of the arm 25 firmly connected to the free end of the cover 10. Adjacent "the lugs 31 E provide short lugs 32 which are adapted to support one end of the coil 'springsg fi. The other end of the coil springs 33 engage over the lugs 3% formed on the depending flange 1st vof th cover 10, as clearly illustrated in Figure 9 and also illustrated in Figure 4.

The cover 10 isformed with depending ears 35 on either side or the same in which 1 provide slots 2:36 which are adapted to engage over the pin 12 to pivotally and slid-ably support "1' 10 atjthe pivot point or rod 12. At the back of the cover an arcuated skirt 3? is provided to close the back of the case B and to provide a neat and smooth construction to the stroppercase. In opening and closing the case of my stropper A it is only necessaryto engage that portion of the strap C'which extends through the bottom 11 and through the flange 20 out through the slot 19, and pull the same sufiiciently to cause the attaching portion of the handle 22 to strike against the flange 1 1 of the cover 10, which causes the springs to be compressed, and by means of the slots SG'the cover 10 is adapted to slide backward sutiiciently to release the lugs or shoulders 38 from the hooks 39, whereupon the cover it) automatically opens by reason of the pull strap. In this manner I provide a stropper case B which automatically opens by pulling on one end of the strap U.

The razor blade F in this holdingmeans is held on the plate 65 sliding beneath the ears 66 andbeing clamped by thev clamping bar 67. he. clamping bar. 67is supported at the pivot point 57 in the a-rms25, while theplate 65 is supported by the arms 40. This blade holding means in Figures 10, 11 and 12, functions just the same as that heretofore described, excepting that it is. adapted, to hold a singlefedge blade. Therefore, it is readily apparent that my stroppe-r A is adapted for different razor-blades..- y I e It is an essential feature of my invention, however, to provide a razor stropper ofsimplicity, compactness and of an automatic nature, so that the cover snaps into locking position automatically, and also opens automatically by pulling on one end of the strap, and the blade is adapted to be self-centering automatically by the spring means provided to hold the same against cutting the strap. The feature of elevating the blade is also of importance as it permits the blade to be readily engaged or placed within the stropper A.

In aecordancewith the patent statutes I have describedthe principles of operation of my razor strop A and while I haveillustrated a particular formation and construction of the same, I desire to have it "understood that the same is only illustrative and that other forms of my invention ca be adapted for the purposes set forth within the scope of the following claims.

I claim:

1. A razor stropper including, a casing having a compact nature with side walls so mounted as to swing open and adapted to close approximately parallel to each other, means for supporting a razor blade between said side walls, a razor strop, means tor-roceiving and guiding said'razorstrop between the side walls in a inannerso as to strop the blade held thercbetween, and said razor strep being so disposed in said casing as to open said casing by pulling on one end or" said strop in a direct lengthwisepull ofthe strep.

2. A razor stropper including a casing capable of being opened, means for supporting a razor blade within the casing, a stropping member and means for moving the razor blade, said stropping member being so disposed in said casing as to open said casing and operate said razor blade moving means upon a pull upon one'end of said stropping member in adirect lengthwise direction.

A razor stropper including, a casing capable of being opened, means forsupporting a razor blade within said casing, means to raise the razor blade from one side ofthe casing when the casing is opened and a streppingineml'ier so disposed in said casin as to open said casing by a direct lengthwise pull of said stropping member.

l. A razor stropper comprising ablade holder, a asing having a thin, flat, compact nature with approximately parallelly extending side wallaone of said walls forming the corerand the other the bottom, means -for pivol'ally supporting said walls together so the. the casing may be opened, means for locking the free ends of said walls to entirely close said casing and a strop in said casing so disposed as to open said casing by a direct lengthwise pull of the strop in said casing.

A razor stropper including, a casing having two membershingedly connected together so that the casing can be opened, one oi. said-members forming the cover and the other member forming the bottom portion to e for inclosing the razor blade when being stio iped, a razor "tropping member extending through said members and extcnding out oi the free ends of the same, means for receiving a razor blade, means for c imping the razor blade when said members are moved into closed position, and said stropping member being so disposed in said casing as to elm-ate, release and expose the razor blade by a direct lengthwise pull of said stropping member.
